Castle St, MontgomeryPopped in for a pint after a tough 29km on The Offas Dyke hike from Knighton. I needed to get to my B+B accommodation in nearby Chirbury.No luck getting a Taxi but the landlord and landlady found a local chap who kindly gave me a lift.Just wanted to say many thanks to all concerned for helping a stranger in need...good karma to you all!Highly recommend you swing by for a pint or 3 of the great beer they serve!Thanks again!!Steve

Priest Weston, MontgomeryPopped in on way home from a hike. Lovely traditional country pub. Great beer, Landlord and locals so friendly. If you're walking near Mitchell's Fold or corndon. Pop down the bank and call in... You won't be disappointed ?

8 Broad St, MontgomeryThis is how a tea room should be. Apart from the friendly and efficient service the food was absolutely spot on. The quiche had the lightness of a soufflé. Good quality coffee that lacked the bitterness of cheap beans.

Mellington Hall Country House Hotel
Mellington, MontgomeryVery pleased with the Location, Meal & service,We booked at quite short notice for a get together to celebrate Mums 91st birthday, there were 7 of us in the group & we were all very happy with the Beautiful location, quality of the meal & standard of the service, we will certainly be back & would happily recommend Mellington Hall to others, Thanks.

The Abermule Inn
B4386, Abermule, MontgomeryMyself & my partner came to stay for a 2 night trip in Abermule. For our anniversary night we fancied going to a local and so happy we stumbled across the Abermule inn.The food was delicious we had 3 courses which were all really up there with taste and quality. My partner had the sirloin steak & I had the lamb goulash which we thoroughly enjoyed and my partner says his steak was cooked to perfection.The service was fantastic we were well looked after by the young girl who looked after us all evening. She was efficient & attentive!After our meal we went over to the bar side to finish off our drinks & play some darts. Overall lovely place, food & experience especially if you are looking for a traditional local to go to!

The Nags Head Inn
Garthmyl, MontgomerySorry it’s a bit late we ate at your pub on 8/03/24. We had just moved our caravan to Argae Hall site. And it was my partners birthday on the Sunday but we were only till the Saturday so I treated him to a meal at your lovely pub. The staff were fantastic and so was the service. The meal was out of this world my partner had the pie of day which was one of best pies he has ever eaten. I had the Feathered Beef again was the best I’ve eaten. And the cheesecake was to die for ?? The staff were very friendly wishing my partner for his upcoming birthday ?

Church Bank, MontgomeryWe had a good lunch of scrambled egg on toast, & a sausage sandwich with tea & coffee for only £10.50p. The sub-postmistress is the waitress, cook & post office counter staff, so she is sometimes pulled in several directions at once, so be patient & understanding & you'll be rewarded.

The Dragon Hotel
Market Square, MontgomeryHaving changed ownership recently, my partner and I decided to have lunch at The Dragon. Well, it was good before and it's even better now. I had the BEST Burger I have ever had and my other half was very impressed with the Tagliatelli. We then decided on a pudding and the Cheesecake and Lemon Posset were superb. Lovely warm ambient surroundings and Charlotte was SO attentive! Altogether with drinks less than £50, we'll certainly be back!Walkability: Montgomery is an amazing Georgian Town in the heart of Mid Wales. The Dragon is at the foothills of the castle ruin and there are some of the best countryside scenes that Wales can offerNoteworthy details: Parking is reasonable but recommend weekdays is best and best book in advance for meals

Montgomery Fish Bar
Broad St, MontgomeryOur food was delicious. We had 3 cod (which were very large and freshly cooked with a lovely tasting batter), steak & kidney pie, sausage, battered sausage, 3x chips, and a pot of curry sauce. There was a wait, but everything was piping hot and freshly cooked so that was fine by us. There wasn't an option to pay by card. Thankfully, we had some cash with us, as our order came to £38. We were given a large bottle of Pepsi on the house. I've added up to date prices in the photos.Parking: Lot of free parking spots, but still sometimes hard to find a vacant space.
