Having changed ownership recently, my partner and I decided to have lunch at The Dragon. Well, it was good before and it's even better now. I had the BEST Burger I have ever had and my other half was very impressed with the Tagliatelli. We then decided on a pudding and the Cheesecake and Lemon Posset were superb. Lovely warm ambient surroundings and Charlotte was SO attentive! Altogether with drinks less than £50, we'll certainly be back!Walkability: Montgomery is an amazing Georgian Town in the heart of Mid Wales. The Dragon is at the foothills of the castle ruin and there are some of the best countryside scenes that Wales can offerNoteworthy details: Parking is reasonable but recommend weekdays is best and best book in advance for meals

We visited on a Saturday lunchtime for a drink. We were a party of 8 with two dogs . The staff greeted us with smiles and a warm welcome. They gave fantastic service, seating us in the den at the front of the hotel, even moving chairs around for us. They brought water in a bowl for the dogs. They also put some music on in the background for us. Drinks were reasonably priced. The hotel was full of history. The furniture in the den had comfy sofas and chairs with throws for our use. The staff went above and beyond.

Don't book this hotel of you want to sleep, which is nearly £100 a night.Food is nice and room is nice. But you hear everything from the bar downstairs. Was past 1am on a Friday and I've been told it'll be past 1am Saturday night.Absolutely awful that we pay nearly £100 a night and are told 'we'll the locals come on until late'Sleeping with headphones on two nights in a row and £190 down.Disgusting.

A second visit to this comfortable old hotel. Unfortunately our stay coincided with a change of ownership and the much anticipated bistro menu was not available. However, the bar menu was very good and I was reassured by a co-owner at breakfast that a taste refurbishments were planned.

We only had dinner in the restaurant and the food was really good.Nearby activities: I went up the hill to see the castle ruins. The view from up there is magnificent! The walk, even though it's steep isn't that long and I am glad we didn't drive up.I also visited a shop that sells absolutely everything and anything. It's like stepping back in time to when I was a kid. I loved chatting to the owner and seeing all the different hardware and ceramics, garden tools, kitchen ware, you name it, this shop will have it. Can't remember the name of the shop but there's only one.Safety: It's a sleepy little town and you are perfectly safe there.Food & drinks: Food was good.

Although the food was good the staff were rude and curt. As we were celebrating a family occasion this spoilt our experience and we ate quickly, paid the bill and left. We will not be back and went on else to enjoy our celebrations. This is a great shame as we are local people.

Lovely meal with our dear Auntie and Uncle. Good variety and our choices were delicious!

Staff were very good. Rooms were very nice. Transport was sparse. But over all a very good experience.
