Best Sunday roast dinner I have had for a long time. Highly recommended.
Excellent beer from Purple Moose and a great Sunday lunch.
Just stayed for 3 days and had a great stay. Lovely room overlooking the beer garden and a sea view . Excellent breakfast. Spotlessly clean very friendly staff. Great helpful owners will be back. Thank you.
Lovely views. Great beer garden
The Black Lion has a great atmosphere, This place provides a perfect backdrop of the Sea view. Great for a few beers. I see tasty plates of scampi or fish and chips being served.
An excellent Sunday roast-I’d go so far as to say one of the best I’ve ever had. We were passing and came in without booking. Seated with no fuss in the bar. Whoever is doing the cooking really knows what they’re doing as the roast pork was excellent as were all the accompanying vegetables. All staff were courteous and helpful. Nice local brew as well. I’d unreservedly recommend this for Sunday lunch.
Walked up from the town and it was well worth the hill workout lol. Friendly service the home made fish and chips & lasagne were amazing , best chips about and the lasagne full of flavour . Highly recommended 5⭐️
Lovely food every thing fresh and hot.friendly atmosphere and staff.
Having come here a few years ago I was excited to return, but unfortunately this place has gone downhill terribly. The owner has an extremely bad attitude problem and made a muggy comment when asked is the food homemade. He’s obviously a bit of a control freak that doesn’t know how to run a restaurant, and this rubs off on the other staff and general atmosphere of the pub, no wonder they’re crying out for staff. Food was ok but nothing special, won’t be returning!
What a lovely place!! It would be 5⭐ just for the view!! But the staff, selection of drinks and the food were all fabulous!! Portion sizes were bigger than imagined. The Fish & Chips.. my god!! It was like a Whale on a chip mountain!! Delicious!! Thank you!!

Amazing pub experience, they didn’t have sprite or 7UP but they did have lemonade as an exact alternative.
The food was pretty good. I had a gigantic steak and lots of chips. for dessert. I had a scoop of the vanilla and strawberry ice cream.
We were a group of like nine or something, so there was a lot of space for all of us, which is good. We sat outside where dogs are permitted.
You have to go inside to get what you want, which is a little tedious, but it’s how it is.
The staff were very nice and very talkative. They had bathrooms, including one for disabled people.
We gave them a nice tip, and they said it will be split among the workers, which was nice to hear.
It took until I was essentially done my food to find the salt, so that was unfortunate. I wish they had different containers to carry the salt, rather than little bags, which are shoved underneath all of the other condiments.
Overall, nice place.
Nice Sunday dinner. Lovely views o error the bay.
This was recommended to us from someone in our football family. It's really close to Quay West if your staying here. Sunday lunch was lovely. They have children's Sunday lunch and some child's non Sunday lunch options like chicken nuggets.
Our table was ready on arrival and we were quickly shown through. Drinks order was taken quickly as was our lunch choices. Meat options were Beef, Chicken, Pork and a Veggie option. Food was served quickly with a choice of vegetables and gravy which is gluten free.
There was a delay from clearing out table to getting in a dessert order. I asked twice before someone came on the third request. Small choice of dessert, sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie with some ice cream choices.
Venue is clean, there's an outside park with a lovely beer garden and the views are spectacular.
Parking is available at the pub, however there's also a car park at the top of the street which I believe is £2 for all day parking and a short walk to the pub.
Definitely worth a visit if your in Newquay.
The view from the garden is like a postcard.
Great food, friendly staff and amazing views from the beer garden. Would be hard to find a better place
