Visited for NYE. Wonderful atmosphere, lovely food, friendly service. Particularly enjoyed the live music as entertainment - really made the night special. Will be returning again ?

We spent a perfect New Year's Eve at Ego's. The food was beautiful and the service was quick and friendly. We were seated near the live music which was excellent and we enjoyed dancing to it. Will definitely be booking again for New Year.

Gorgeous kebabs at Ego, and half price night which was a bonus!. Gorgeous bramble cocktails, and the staff are so lovely, friendly, helpful and polite. A great place to eat.

Had a fabulous New Year at Ego Penarth food fabulous as always canapés and glass of champagne on arrival ? staff especially Edward very attentive and pleasant. A lovely, light Vegan lunch, we had the Felafels with fries, my son had the wrap as on the menu & I had a tasty side salad instead of the wrap. We love it that the staff are friendly, accommodating & even remember our dogs by name & feed them treats. We also loved the special January offer for these meals at just £5 each.

This was our first visit to The Schooner Inn. We were greeted with a warm friendly smile and shown to our table. The restaurant was very pleasant with a January 2024 reduced priced menu for lunch which was an added bonus. The food and service were generally good, the food hot and well presented and overall a pleasant visit. The only complaint was that when we received our bill we had been charged the full lunchtime prices and not the discounted price which was a little annoying. We challenged the bill and it was amended without any fuss or bother.
A gem of a find! We thoroughly enjoyed our family meal here, lovely food and ambiance. The young waiter that served us was very helpful and very polite. The sea bass is highly recommended followed by the rhubarb and gin crumble, delicious!! We will definitely be returning on our next visit to Cardiff and Penarth.

We were at Ego for NYE the food was tasty and the waiting staff were great. Unfortunately the entertainment was absolutely awful. No engaging with the crowd, they left dancers on the dance floor standing in silence, with bemused looks on their faces for a 4 minute countdown to midnight, people didn't know what to do. The worst entertainment ever!! We would not visit for NYE again

We are big Ego fans and go regularly and always leave 5* reviews. It was our 1st NYE experience there and I don't think we will repeat it. We chose it for new years eve as the food is always good and we wanted live entertainment which was advertised. We were seated in the furthest possible table away from the bar area where the singer was we were, in a sort of separate room near back of Ego. We couldn't see or hear the entertainment and we didn't even know a singer had started. The tables nearest the singers were mostly full, it was suggested we stand by the bar. To be fair when I expressed my disappointment at that suggestion, a table was found. If you're going to advertise entertainment you really need to ensure diners can see or at least hear it! We left before midnight.

Food is always delicious but service is very slow. I've been twice recently and both times it took 3 hours to get to dessert and we've had to request dessert in doggy bags due to later plans.
