What can I say about this place. Everything was perfect..the rooms were so clean all my family and friends who stayed the night of the wedding said how much they enjoyed staying there Breakfast was so tasty and clean (wasnt fatty or swimming in oil) Wedding went off with no issues the staff couldnt do enough for us! I cant recommend this place enough.

We had the best day celebrating our wedding at Canada Lodge. Our coordinators Rebecca & Abbie were phenomenal, as well as the rest of the team, they made sure everything ran so perfectly. The venue and views at the venue are so beautiful, the food was delicious and the accommodation was amazing. Would definitely recommend to any couples looking for an affordable and incredible venue.

Visited here for a wedding over the summer and despite the awful weather the venue was very pretty even on a rainy day. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming, venue is very cute inside with all the fairy lights and perfect for an intimate wedding of approx 60 people. Food was good and they had a good selection of drinks at the bar which was very well priced considering it was a wedding venue. Only thing I thought could have improved it was outdoor heaters on the patio, it is the UK, after all! And walking up and down the stairs in the rain carrying drinks felt a little on the dangerous side. Oh and wifi would have been nice to have.

I recently had my wedding at Canada Lodge & Lake and I couldn’t recommend them more. The staff were outstanding on the day but also the months leading up they couldn’t do enough for you. If I could do my day again I’d still have this venue. Accommodation was exceptional. My guests raved about the food, even the breakfast the day after was amazing. Honestly I couldn’t fault a thing. Such an underrated wedding venue. Photographer - Lucy Parker

We got married here in July and the staff have been amazing from day 1! As myself and my now husband are musicians, we have performed at many wedding venues, so when we got engaged, Canada lodge was at the top of our list as we had already done a few weddings there! We cannot thank the team there enough for everything. They made our day so relaxed and they treated us like family. Stunning venue, stunning food and the staff just made it 10 times better! Highly recommend! :-) Love, Katie, Jay and little Theo (20th July 2023) xx

Had our wedding here in May. Lovely wedding venue but overall the day wasn’t all made out what we thought it would be. I don’t expect anything to be perfect but we really was disappointed. Firstly, from booking our wedding we felt we were forgotten about, we was only invited for two wedding meetings and they seem to have forgotten about the third. I left a couple of voicemails to question things for the wedding and got completely ignored (I understand they were busy but there’s always time, 1 minute is all I wanted for a phone call to query something) Myself, my mum and bridesmaids stayed the night before the wedding, lovely stay and we had breakfast the morning of. We was asked if we needed anything the morning of the wedding and the lady made sure we was all ok which was lovely and appreciated. The day of the wedding was shambles, we had a couple of guests with dietary requirements which the catering team didn’t even follow and didn’t have a backup of food to offer for them. The catering staff didn’t know whether they were coming or going and we was completely rushed. We got asked to cut our wedding cake “quickly” so they could take it away to cut. There was nobody around us to even witness this as everyone got sent outside so the family were a bit gutted. The food was lovely but it seemed completely rationed and a few people mentioned this. So we went for the soup, chicken & brownie. It was lovely but very small Portions. A couple of guests didn’t have bread to go with their soup to which a young girl said “they run out” Our guest tables were all over the place so myself and partner had to go in to sort it out before the wedding breakfast, (the name cards) even though a full list was provided. Evening of the wedding there was a buffet of god knows what, I think every guest complained to us and there was hardly nothing there for our vegetarian guests, although they got offered crisps. We had a guest with a nut allergy who got told it was “best not to eat anything” by a young girl who worked there incase he had a reaction and I really don’t think the buffet catered for all our guests and the amount of guests. Morning after, we went over to Rhodris for our breakfast where we was greeted by the most rudest woman I’ve ever come across. Who shouted at my nephew when he asked for juice, as there was “none left” but we could see the juice in the fridge?? He was quite upset by this, hes 9. She had attitude with everyone. We asked to sit outside as it was absolutely boiling to which she said “well I won’t be taking your order outside”. She was rude to all our guests and it was quite embarrassing. We all have bad days, but her attitude towards everyone was disgusting. They ran out of breakfast which our guests paid for. No refund was offered. What we paid, I don’t think it was worth it. Couple of guests who stayed said it was like sleeping on bricks. I think the mattresses need a little updating. The bar staff however were amazing and couldn’t do enough. We definitely won’t be returning which is a shame because it would have been a lovely place to stay for our anniversary.

Outstanding ! Our dream wedding took place here and we couldn’t have asked for a better service. From start to finish every member of staff were amazing, so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us, to ensure our day was perfect. Many guests stayed at the venue and all comments on how well presented the cabins were along with the breakfast service in Rhodri’s. I would recommend this venue to anybody who is looking to get married❤️ or have a couple evening and gorgeous food.

Booked Sunday lunch at Rodri’s for family including daughter and future son in law who are getting married at the lodge in 2 weeks and we wanted to sample the food before the ‘big day ‘. Sunday lunch was great, service by the two on shift at Rhodris was great…both were friendly , attentive and efficient . The food was plentiful and tasty …great roasties and Yorkshire puddings and we hope it will be the same standard for the wedding day. We watched the storm unfold over the lake and the fish jumping…such a wonderful setting.

Beautiful, Idyllic wedding venue setting. ***** Wedding arrangements/organisation by Bride & Groom perfect. ***** Wedding celebration rooms decor lovely. ***** Breakfast, very nice. ***** Lodges a little uninteresting, in need of a comfortable revamp. *** RHODRI'S BY THE LAKE CAFE......... Upon early arrival at the wedding venue & unable to check into a lodge, Reception recommended to go to Rhodri's cafe for refreshments, where we were refused any sort of service and turned away by an unwelcoming, unhappy, abrupt young man who was "too busy" to accommodate a family of 4 which included elderly frail parents. (A glass of water may have sufficed - basic daily living needs). Obviously this "more than my jobsworth" person, is in need of some customer care training skills, curtesy, human compassion & kindness.

Scenery fantastic very nice. Dogs welcome outside on the patio. Food ok but unfortunately service very very slow. Over 40 mins to be served a sandwich.!! I understand they may be short staffed but not overrun. Do you want customers.??? Staff doing there best.?

Was there for a wedding as a full day guest. Lets get the good out the way: - The location/Setting - Amazing - Cleanliness - Excellent - Staff - Lovely apart from the particular rudeness at the breakfast the following day. - Bar service - Excellent The problem - which is a biggy and needs to be addressed. The food. In a general summary, even though they new the number that were coming it was very under catered. The wedding Breakfast (The main dinner for those that don't know) was lacking, 2 shreds of carrot, about 3 green beans as a bed for chicken which was almost an attempt at being pretentious but not quiet cutting it. The best thing about this was the desert. The kids portions were shocking. Kids are kids - not babies - they need to be more generous with what they are doing and maybe consider things other than cheap chicken nuggets. The worst bit was the buffet in the evening - it was catered for 1 or triangles of a cut sandwich per person. We had a few vegetarians (4 of them) and they were not catered for at all, when asked they were told they can have crisps !!!! what is that all about at the price you pay per head know who your catering for. The same at the breakfast the following morning. The numbers for staying guests were known well in advance. Then to tell me I hadn't notified them of a vegetarian in the group was shocking when the I saw the ladies in reception actually write it down. They ran out of pastries ( there were only 8 out when I got there, and I was one of the first) they ran out of cereal, juice and other things. When asked if there was any more orange juice the answer was a plain no and the staff walked off. This was an answer to a 10 year old!! completely unacceptable. This is such a shame. They just need to get the catering element right for this place and it will be hands down a place you want to go to. It is quite clear that either they are trying to squeeze out the most amount of money they can per head at the cost of their reputation or they are not budgeting it correctly. Would be so much better to get the forecasting right but when you know the numbers for a pre-planned event, there are no excuses.

We recently attended a wedding at Canada Lodge and stayed in one of the cabin rooms. The wedding venue is in a beautiful location next to a lake which provides excellent photo opportunities. However, it is let down on two major fronts. Firstly, the food we had was very poor. Meagre portions, overcooked meat, fish and vegetables, odd sauce choices. I struggle to believe the dishes were much like the tasters that the bride and groom tried a few months ago. To be honest I’d be embarrassed to serve it up for school dinner, never mind at the most important day of someone’s life. The evening buffet wasn’t much better but we were so hungry after the terrible dinner that some basic frozen pizzas were welcome by that point. There is a wood fired pizza oven at the venue but it wasn’t used. Perhaps it’s for display purposes only. Second, the room we stayed in had several problems. The mattress was thin, uncomfortable and I suspect very old. You could feel the springs. There was a bright green light which couldn’t be turned off and made sleep impossible. It’s probably some kind of fire escape light but why this is in the room I have no idea. There was a beeping sound audible all night from a nearby locked facilities room. I called the ‘night time contact number’ three times to see if someone could resolve this issue, but no one answered. More problems. The bathroom is dated and tired, with mouldy silicone. The sink was dirty. There’s no iron or even hairdryer in the room - you have to request them. The room was cold and the heating ineffective. Tea and coffee options in the room just not up to standard for a 4 star hotel in 2023 - no decaf tea options and little sachets of basic instant coffee. Only one small bottle of still water to share between two guests. These are small things on their own but add up to display complacency from the hotel management. After a very long day we had a pretty miserable night. I imagine Canada Lodge was at one point a great venue but it clearly hasn’t had any investment in guest facilities for a long time. To be charging what they do for the room we stayed in is a disgrace, I’ve stayed in hostel rooms that are more comfortable. I would recommend staying pretty much anywhere else if you’re invited to a wedding here. And maybe take a packed lunch as well.

My husband and I wanted to have a late lunch as we finish work at 2pm on Fridays. We decided to give Rhodri's by the Lake a try. I checked the website to make sure that they were open. I could see that they closed at 4.30pm and that tables could be booked online up to 3.15pm. We arrived at 3pm and were told that no food is served after 3pm as the cook leaves at that time. The girl who spoke to us was unapologetic and extremely unhelpful. I suggested that this information needs to be made available on their website to save people a wasted journey. She eventually said that she would pass this suggestion on. Uninspiring choice of food on the menu so definitely won't be returning to Rhodri's by the Lake.

The lake was stunning but I was disappointed with the coffee shop. The range of cakes was poor, service slow and the venue was very cold. Sorry I can't be more positive. Last time we went to the red lodge and we're very impressed. Unfortunately that wasn't open on the day we called.
