Visited recently for a lunch with my daughter who is at the USW in Treforest. I was a bit worried when we walked in and the place was empty! But it was just a quiet day and actually meant we could choose where we sat and there are lots of nice seating areas to choose from. Our server was lovely and friendly, the food wholesome and obviously freshly cooked - the chilli was the right level of spice and everything was seasoned lovely. They offer many real ales (I couldn't try as I was driving!) and overall the pub is lovely and friendly, clean and excellent value for money - this will definitely be a favourite place to visit when coming to see my daughter!

We love coming to our local pub. The food is fantastic plenty of choice and always cooked well. Sunday lunches are great and very reasonably priced. The beer garden is really big and has a lovely gazebo and outdoor TV. It’s also great if you want to pop in for a pint. The staff are always helpful and happy. Plus Jo and Craig are fantastic people and have created a lovely community pub in the heart of the little village of Hawthorn.

Went to this little gem because of a tip off from a friend. Hung around after work to get in when it opened at 5.30. Service was awesome, food even better. I had the Honey Chicken with rice and the Sui Mai also. Amazing flavours, good value and will definitely go back next time I am in the area!!!

Accommodation WOULD be a 5 if breakfast was included, if the toilet flushed properly, if there was a fan in the room and if there was shower gel/soap to use. Also cobwebs down by the cupboards/bedside table. However the beds were really comfy and the room really cozy.

A nice residential street pub. Good traditional layout, dog friendly and a little area to sit outside.

Went in for a quick pint and a big range of their otley brewery ales were on tap. Around £4 a pint, not the cheapest for the Welsh valleys but not bad. A good selection but the porter had just gone (d'oh), so had a dark IPA which was decent and as it should be.

Friendly staff and customers. One of the better valleys pubs, worth checking out.

I have to say, we been having a Jamil for a while now and i felt like it derserves a positive review. Not often we have a takeaway, but when we do, it's Jamil as our go to! We have never ever had a bad experience, sitting in or takeaway. The food is amazing and the staff are always so welcoming and friendly. Our meal is always Chicken Tikka Masala and then Chicken or Lamb Makhani with pilau rice, chips and a Pewsweri naan. Thankyou guys!

Got a takeaway which is reasonable value and the food was quite ok. Note it is cash only.
I suspect they use monosodium glutamate as I had the usual hunger pangs after eating their food. The takeaway that I collected was a little bit cold and the meat was a bit tough however after reheating it, it softened up. Collection in person should get a 15% discount.

I accidentally came across this hidden gem while passing through Pontypridd, and wow, what a find! I had the rissole in batter, and it was hands down the best I’ve ever eaten. Crispy on the outside, full of flavour inside, just perfect. Honestly, the only downside is that it’s now ruined all other rissoles in batter for me... nothing else comes close!
They had a range of curries. I tried the Chinese curry, which was delicious and packed with flavour. Everything tasted fresh and cooked with care.
But what really made the visit was the amazing lady behind the counter, she was so friendly, chatty, and just genuinely lush. You don’t get that kind of warm, personal service everywhere. Even the customers were lovely, it felt like walking into a little community.
They don’t take card, so I had to nip across the road to get cash back... which meant I had to buy a bottle of wine. Which I wasn’t happy about (wink, wink)!
I didn't even know this place was there, but now I'd happily go out of my way just to eat there again. If you're anywhere near Pontypridd, do not miss The Codfather!

We had our Christmas party night at the Brown Trout. Probably their first one and I have to say it was amazing. We were quite a large group for what I imagine is a pretty small pub kitchen. The food was excellent, the turkey was moist, the gravy lush and the veg cooked perfectly. The service was also really good. Afterwards we had a brilliant band they seamlessly sorted the seating including removing some tables and chairs and still managed to fit us all in. Well organised and well executed. Cannot fault the evening. Thank you to all the team What a great start to the festive season.

If you haven’t tried The Thai Restaurant in Pontypridd Market yet, you’re missing out! The service is super quick, and the staff are friendly and checking in to make sure you’re happy. You really feel looked after.

The place has a top hygiene rating of 5, which is always great to see. The Thai menu is brilliant – loads of tasty options, and the spice level is spot on if you like a bit of heat. The food is really delicious, and the portion sizes are just right for one person.

What’s also handy is they have an English menu too, with things like full English breakfasts, jacket potatoes, toast, and more – perfect if you’re after something more familiar.

Even though it’s in the middle of Pontypridd Market, the vibe is really cool – kind of like you’re sitting in a little beach cabin. It’s a really nice place to relax and enjoy your food.

Definitely recommend giving it a go!

From being in there - it appears to have a music space with community members accessing.

Seems to be open most days but have only been there around 12-3pm ISH.

Absolutely amazing homemade Curry here, perfect amount of spice and a kick. Rice and chips compliment the sauce better than anywhere else. Compared to the curry at Stilts this is a 5 star meal and the price isn't bad at all. Best part about it is that you can have a pint or a game of pool whilst waiting for your fodd, but the wait isnt long at all either. I know its a bold statement, but its the best curry ive ever had. Well done.

Moved to the area in January 23 and tried another 3 Chinese takeaway places plus here. This is by far out favourite and bar maybe one meal being a little below par it's always been very good. Had a friend down on the 12th abd we treated him, he was also really impressed with sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style. I normally go for Special fried Rice and a tub of curry sauce plus poppadoms. One time the sauce was very thick but I added some boiling water. Partner goes for king prawn kung po and is never let down. We nearly always go for salt and chilli ribs or satay chicken starters, both lovely and reheat well in the air fryer. Delivery sometimes up to an hour on busy nights but just take that into consideration. Been meaning to leave a review for ages but my mate reminded me to do it as he had such a lovely meal. So here it is.

The staff are absolutely fantastic, the atmosphere is just so lovely. A proper, good ole fashioned British boozer and love the fact it’s so dog friendly too. Love the interior, have really missed seeing a traditional pub and the beer gardens are absolutely beautiful. Other pubs should follow-suit. We love the farmers, only pub we’d go to now and will travel for it.
