Was in Porthmadog for a day and on the lookout for a nice local place for breakfast. Walked over to this cosy cafe on the high street in Porthmadog and was greeted with a nice smiley gentleman who guided us through his menu, giving recommendations and explaining his best-selling items. We got a mocha & cappucino along with a fruit scone and 2 muddy wellies because they were so good warmed up! The inside seating was so nice and cosy, with a fireplace. Freshly baked breads, jam donuts, quiches, and so many goods to choose from.

Fantastic stop over in Porthmadog for a local coffee and breakfast place. Their muddy wellies are spectactular and everything is baked fresh. The gentleman taking our order was very nice and welcoming, and the indoor seating had a lovely, cosy vibe that we enjoyed.

Beautiful place, beautiful food, beautiful service, especially the friendly Welsh gentleman (sorry didn't get your name) All the way from Manchester, will definitely be returning. Such a peaceful vibe going on, loved it.Vegetarian options: Plenty on offer

Well made , home cook looking bakery. If you are in the area well worth a visit. Rustic, not fancy ,home bakery and cafe food, genuine.

An incredibly warm and welcoming environment. Big Rock is the best café in the area, with beautiful interiors and even better food and drink, I couldn’t recommend it more. The staff are extremely friendly and always go that extra mile! If you’re lucky enough to visit in the winter time you’ll even get the incredible experience of sitting by the beautiful open fire ?Kid-friendliness: There’s even a fooseball table to keep the little ones entertained!

What a great place. Real friendly staff that look after you. Great selection of food at reasonable prices and nice friendly atmosphere. It can get very busy and sometimes there is a queue...but this just shows the quality of the place.

Generally an ok place, not very exciting I’m afraid. Decor lovely but atmosphere was quite flat, no music and service was ok, didn’t feel like the staff loved to be there more they were just transacting. All food is preprepared in advance and warmed up, rarebit wasn’t great sadly and I think quite limiting offering for vegetarians.

This is a little gem. Fantastic Bread, cakes, pies, all baked on the premises, fresh, but also with the opportunity to buy anything that is left over from the day before at a reduced rate. The coffee is superb, the salads are huge and sooo good and the Monkey Bread is just heavenly, you must try it. Set in an old chapel building, there are tables and chairs, comfy sofas and huge log burner. The staff are friendly and helpful, happy make coffee exactly as you want it. This place is a definite 5 star.Vegetarian options: Excellent vegetarian choice, lots of things to try.

This is a beauty of a coffee shop! We were about to stop in the local Costa and something caught our eye further up the road that looked like a coffee shop. So we ventured a little further and are we glad that we did? Yes we are.The service was excellent. We just happened to be served by the owner who was a brilliant character. The bread, cakes and savoury snacks on offer were exceptional. We had a sausage roll, chocolate cookie, fruit loaf (this was UNBELIEVABLE!), an Eccles cake and some carrot cake. It was all fresh and delicious. The coffee was super fresh and they are happy to make to whatever preference you can throw at them. Our three year old very much enjoyed his kids hot chocolate. If you're in the area and want great coffee, great food and great community, this is the place for you!We loved the added touches of life bringing bible verses and if you want a bit of extra community, they host a bible study a couple of times a month. This is a place that clearly loves it's community and the people in it.The Big Rock rocks!

Lovely cafe with amazing choice of cakes & drinks. Highly recommended. Love the Bara Brith.

A great place. The sourdough needs more salt and oil, and I wish they'd stop caking the top of it in flour. But the rest of the food is great and they still get 5 stars just for effort and care over the products and customers.
