Visited earlier this year.I think it is a very underrated little line.It is unique, as it lets you have a taste of what the current Welsh Highland Railway, was like back 100 years ago. No other line can ever say they are a representation of what another heritage line used to be like.It has a lovely selection of engines, and a cute little museum full of fascinating information about The Welsh Highland. Not to mention a few of the most beautifully maintained narrow gauge stations I have ever seen, all clean and have beautiful flowers growing.A few people have said the line is short, but I say that if the only thing I would wish for it to be even longer so I could enjoy it even more, then that is actually a big compliment I can give to the line.Over all, a lovely little, well maintained and authentic line, with friendly staff.Definitely will visit again one day, and will recommend a visit to anyone.

I wanted to reach out regarding my family’s experience to the Welsh Highland Railway. We went as a group of six and on the whole we were disappointed with the overall experience. We spent over £100 for our visit - including entry and the cafe afterwards. The train journey was not worth getting on, with how short of a journey it actually took.when we alighted at the halfway station, they got the children involved to change the point but even the operator got it wrong and the points didn’t work, it looked unprofessional.Everything is tired. the museum is tired and needs refurbishing. The kids activities are underwhelming. Specifically the ability to chose the name of the train using the magnetic letters. It was incomplete and dirty. The Duplo set looked like it was missing multiple parts.you get 30mins after you alight which is not enough time for any of the children’s activities. The Runaway train wasn’t worth bothering with. The outside train at the museum is in disrepair. Half the track was shut for repair. The figures had fell over and were all faded and were the same as when we visited 15years ago.at the cafe we had something to eat to support the cafe. two of the pizzas we had were burnt and there wasn’t much choice.Overall we’re very disappointed. It was a disappointing few hours which is a shame because the train and carriages were beautiful and were spotless.I understand it is a museum and things need to be “old” to go in there but it’s tired and unappealing to young children and families.I'm leaving this review on behalf of my parents. They emailed the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway shortly after their visit but received no response. They were deeply disappointed by their time there since they had good memories of taking me when I was younger.

Great book selection and G gauge trains in shop. Short but sweet ride interesting museum with Russel and 590.

This is for kids. The ride itself is extremely short, but that's fine since it seems to be tailored for younger people. Little pricey for the limited ride.

Only went on a short journey , you got to go to a museum which was really good and hands on , my granddaughter got to change the signals , and my 31 year old daughter carried.the light and had the hat on , she said no kids put their hands up ha ha .We all enjoyed this more than the ffestiniog train and it was priced ok as well

Awesome place for families with young children

The museum was excellent, the volunteer staff so kind to explain the journey and engage my daughter in how to change the signal points. There is lots for children to do as well as lots for adults to read and learn and the miniture railway was great fun, just don't take the journey too seriously! The volunteers are absolutely brilliant people, it's a shame there isn't more to stay with the tourist so we could have stayed longer to look around.

Great experience and the staff are fantastic, their enthusiasm and knowledge is second to none. The fact you can do it again and again on one ticket is fantastic as the train journey is little over a mile, so getting to do it again is great!

This was a lovely little railway but very short..the only issue we had was the museum.. there is lots of reading which we like..there was so many young famillies that we couldnt enjoy what we liked.. then when coast was clear we where about to enjoy a read and it was time to go.. we could have repeated the 30 min but not to have it all again..cafe was lovely though..it would of been worth the £27 if we could thave enjoyed what we wanted so us what dont have young children..let us enjoy what we set out please xx
