On arrival, the place was extremely busy. Their had been a mix up with our booking but the staff & manager bent over backwards to accommodate us. All 5 meals arrived together and all really enjoyed the food. Decent menu choice. THE STAFF SERVICE WAS OUTSTANDING. full credit to the manager !! Highly recommended. Will most definitely return when next in the area. 10/10

We had the most wonderful time at this charming pub! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff's genuine friendliness made us feel right at home, and what a pleasant surprise to find out they're dog-friendly too! My furry companion was treated like a VIP. Regarding the food, from the moment I took my first bite, I knew I was in for a treat. What truly sets this pub apart, though, is their commitment to traditional recipes and home cooking. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply looking for a hearty and satisfying meal, this pub is an absolute must-visit. In a world of commercialized dining, it's refreshing to find a place that stays true to its roots and delivers an exceptional homemade dining experience.

I've not been here for many years and as we were in the area, we'd booked a table online a few days earlier. We arrived an hour early for our table but this wasn't an issue and the owner was friendly and welcoming. As much as the conservatory was lovely, it was too warm for some of us so we moved tables which was hassle free. Drinks were ordered and menus provided. The drinks came quickly and we were given enough time to decide on food. The menu options are very good, with some nice pub classics and a specials board with a few extra items. We all had something different (cod and chips, chicken curry and a veggie burger), which we very much enjoyed. The pudding menu had a good selection but we couldn't eat anything else. The cost for 3 of us with non-alcoholic drinks was under £50, which we found to be very reasonable. The service was excellent and the owners were friendly and chatty. The pub and dining areas are lovely, with a real country pub style and everything was very clean. There is a good carpark and lovely outdoor garden area. We will certainly be returning. Keep up the good work.

Hadn’t been here since 1980s!! We were delighted to see how nicely decorated it was . Particularly liked the funky sheep wallpaper! So nice to see a bit of flair in the decor. Anyway the Sunday roast was very good rather than outstanding. Generous portion and great selection of vegetables. Proper thickly sliced meat. The roast potatoes were not the best and I don’t like stuffing with beef or Yorkshire pudding with turkey! The dessert selection was quite limited but they were nice and not overpriced. Overall pretty good at a reasonable price . Good service from neatly attired staff.

Had to adjust the reservation but it wasn't a problem and they responded straight away. The food was excellent, large portions , plenty of vegetables and lovely gravy. Meat thickly sliced ! Service good with just enough attention. After the mains we couldn't find room for desserts !!

Excellent food, great friendly service, good cask ale from JW Lees. Overall a great experience that took us back for a second visit later in the week.

I went with my brother (both of us getting on in years) and with mobility problems. It is a pub on the main road between Ruthin & Denbigh and centuries ago it was a stopping place for drovers and their livestock from north west Wales heading for markets in England. The landlord was welcoming and the dining area nicely decorated and clean and the tables not crammed together. We sat in the old part of the building but there was a modern extension and a conservatory. The menu was traditional and tasty. It was busy but not overcrowded. There was plenty of Welsh being spoken by customers and staff ,which was nice to hear. It was our first visit and we will definitely go again.

The food was terrible ,the prices were astronomical £5 50 garlic mushrooms which was chopped mushrooms no flavour of garlic floating on soggy bread, small bowl of soup £5 50 , fish and chips £13 ,fish was over cooked, chips were microwaved so hot burned your mouth,Gammon steak£14 lot of fat, under cooked egg.save your money. This by far was abysmal. This is the first time l have had reason to complain total cost with 2pints of lager£51

Food is amazing, atmosphere something else. This is a great pub with a lovely landlady and the landlord reminds me of Butch Dingle. The halluimi fries amazing, burger divine and the pork noodles excellent. It’s a must visit form me!

Waitress was very friendly. Vey busy even at 6-30. Waited a ridiculous amount of time for the food and it was very overcooked when we got it ! Disappointed!! Chef very stressed . Lunchtime a better option . Conservatory needs dressing with blinds .

Disgusting food and service. Many mistakes with drink and food order, and when the food eventually arrived we could only eat half of it because quality was so poor - tasteless and greasy. What was meant to be a lovely first time visit ended with great disappointment. To cap it off, they tried overcharging us because the mistakes which they made were not corrected in the till. Dreadful place - Urghh!

Staying in the village while visiting family in the area & delighted that this pub was in walking distance from our cottage. We all met up for Sunday lunch and we’re impressed be the quality, quantity and value of the food. The roasts were excellent and the fussy eaters were delighted with the non roast options. The highlight was the homemade cheesecake. Back again Wednesday!

Amazing food and great service. Good to see they didn't take advantage of the fact it was mother's day with their 'normal' Sunday lunch menu not overly priced but good value for money
