We based a walk around this cafe being open as a ‘halfway house’ and according to Google it was open.We were very disappointed when we arrived and it was closed for winter. It would be helpful if you updated this on Google.

Closed in the winter. I can't see the actual dates.

Gorgeous views of the lake. We arrived just before lunch on a quiet October morning. We both had hot chocolates, Brie and bacon sandwiches and a slice of their fabulous

The most marvellous spot, heavenly views, and very welcoming residents. Boo the ginger cat joined me at the table, purring loudly and sharing a saucer of milk.

The spot is beautiful but the man behind the counter wasn’t pleasant. No disabled toilets so one of the party members couldn’t order a cuppa because she couldn’t climb the steep climb on a muddy path to the toilets. Would go back for the scenery and peace but not to the cafe.

The lady that runs this cafe is so down to earth, friendly, jolly and charming she is worth the walk alone! She is also delightful with children. The rustic homemade cakes are absolutely delicious. As for the tea, well, it puts Betty's tea rooms of harrogate to shame. Big farmhouse teapots with the most delicious crisp tasting tea I have ever tasted. I was reliably told that it was down to the local spring water. Throw in the remote lake side views and tranquillity, and this cafe is absolute heaven. Can't wait to come back

We visited last week. It was the destination for a hike from Capel Curig. A lovely route which we'd recommend. The setting, food and staff were great but I had to 'dock' a star for the prices. I know there's no competition but £4.10 for a small chocolate brownie and £14 for a ploughman's (although both were delicious) was a bit steep. As a result we'd do our own packed lunch and call in for a cuppa next time.

Well what an absolute gem of a place. The staff are wonderful. The owner is absolutely fabulous. Reading some reviews I half expected her to come out of the cafe dressed as Doris day in fluffy mules carrying a rolling pin ? slightly disappointed she wasn't but we didn't get shouted at once. Food is wonderful only surpassed by the view. If you want a good old fashioned tea house with home made cake and Artisan bread sandwiches this is the place for you. If you want to question why you can't swim or canoe in a protected lake and risk getting told off if you do then definately don't visit. Well done Carolyn and team you have our hearts and tummies and we can't wait to come and visit you again. ❤️

Marvellous scenery, smashing home-baked cakes and super mugs of tea and coffee! Hair raising journey via single track road to reach the café.

What an absolute joy. A beautiful lake side view with delicious home made cake and sandwiches on artisan bread. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Be careful not to miss the entrance if you're following the lake anticlockwise as the sign faces the other way and the entrance is behind you on the left. They take card payments.

£3.30 for an instant sachet of coffee. They clearly don't love their business. If you want to deliver quality whilst minimising costs then go to Costco, get a huge tub of Kirkland ground coffee and store it in a air tight container, then use slow-pour coffee technique to maximise product use; likely cost 9p a cup. I'd much prefer supporting local business when they try. Disappointed. Other than feeling robbed a beautiful place.
