This was a last-minute booking as the hotel my parents were staying in was full and this was the only place I found with availability. The information needs updating because it isn't a B+B anymore as they no longer serve breakfast here. Joyce very kindly gave me the family room even though I was on my own. I was booked to stay for two nights but left after just one. I only stayed that night because there was nowhere else for me to go. I have both Autism and Asperger's Syndrome and very quickly realised that shared accommodation wasn't for me. I couldn't relax here. I had a meltdown and repeated anxiety attacks. I hadn't realised it was shared when I booked it otherwise I wouldn't have done. There's a bathroom (with bath) a shower room and a kitchenette - all of which are shared with the other residents. I didn't encounter any problems with this, it just made me feel extremely uncomfortable, particularly when a male guest started asking me inappropriate questions. The house and rooms were very clean and Joyce and Alun are friendly people. It's very quiet at night with only the occasional honking from the geese they farm here but I had the worst nights sleep EVER due to the hardest pillows I've ever slept on! I could've told them about this but that would've meant going outside in the middle of the night to ring the bell and disturbing them and I really didn't want to do that. There's no way of contacting them within the house itself or any emergency contact numbers. You have to go outside and round the house to access the kitchenette as well. There were plenty of utensils, and some kitchen equipment here (including a fridge and 2 microwaves) but I did notice that the fridge-freezer was actually outside! There was a washing machine that you have to pay to use. The WiFi was very fast and easy to connect to. There's plenty of room to park cars at the front and rear of the house. Joyce and Alun have a lovely well-tended private garden and you're completely surrounded by fields. It's a 15 min walk from the town centre but only a 4 min drive. The walking route seemed complicated though and we got lost trying to find the farm. Severn Farm would be perfectly pleasant for people looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre and who don't mind shared accommodation but it's definitely not for me and I won't be staying here again.

Several years have passed since my stay, but i find myself passing through the area again and reflecting back about my stay at the farm. I was actually training for 3 or 4 months and stayed for the whole time, through autumn and winter. Not just a one off, i really got a feel for the place and its surroundings. The training was intense but the moment i got back to the b&b and opened the famhouse door I was 'home from home'. Surrounded by character, a traditional charm that allowed for a truly layed back atmosphere. Great views of fiels, hills and trees covered in frost and pheasants wandering the gardens, id often explore to get the most of the area. The owners were equally as friendly and relaxed & i can't thank them enough. The super relaxing bathroom, immaculate vintage decor and cozy living room areas are just what was needed to relax after a physicaly and mentally difficult time! If you're like me, and dont want anything that resembles a sterile Premier inn, then this is the perfect antidote.
