Been here a few times on our way to Barmouth. The food is always fresh and tasty and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. They have a wide selections of different teas and a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit when in Welshpool.

Had a few visits to The Bay Tree but was really disappointed with our visit last Saturday (23rd Sept) my teenager daughter asked if we could go for lunch and have the afternoon tea. I think it’s £16.95 pp and felt excited what would arrive. Unfortunately myself and my daughter felt very disappointed with the food which arrived. Sandwiches were cheese and Branston and coronation chicken. Four slices of bread in total into triangles. One piece of quiche (no more than 3cm In diameter), two scones with cream and jam, two cup cakes, sponge cake and two macaroons. I just feel they could do a bit more on the savoury side and unfortunately a tad disappointing and not expected as others have told me what they have received.

Great all round.. food was amazing ?. Staff were very professional ? considering the amount of orders they have to cope with. Very busy but still manage to keep a smile on thier faces and keep the service to a high standard. ?..

Great themed cafe. Food was very good and had a fantastic variety of teas.

This is a lovely place with brilliant food amazing service and an atmosphere that is one of a kind and I can’t recommend it more.I have 1 negative and that is that the toilet is a little cramped but I couldn’t list all the positives here. Much better than I expected even with my high expectations from the other reviews here.If your parsing through I couldn’t recommend this cafe more.

Lovely cafe/tea room in Welshpool Powys. Close to the town centre with 2 easy public car parks behind it, across from each other. Great selection of cakes and meals and the coffee is excellent. Good selection of gin as well. Very eclectic inside with the walls and ceiling covered in interesting memorabilia. Prices average for the times. Always something to see when you walk in. Variety of seating styles from old converted waltzer cars to high bar stools and leather chesterfield style chairs etc. Would recommend anyone with imagination and an enquiring mind, to give it a go.

Visited Saturday just gone, and it was incredible. Loved the decor, we sat in the Alice of Wonderland part of the tearooms, and it was just fantastic. Even the menu was all out of Wonderland!!The teapots were extremely big, which is great if you are a tea lover like myself. There are so many flavours to choose from. The baguettes and ciabiattas were filled to the brim with tasty food. All come with side salad and taco chips. We certainly had plenty to eat and drink. The atmosphere was great, and the whole place was packed out . We shall definitely be returning. It certainly cheered us up on a rainy dull day. Everything was great from when we walked into saying our goodbyes. Great good, staff and atmosphere with a spoonful of magical delights. It's most definitely worth a visit down the rabbit hole! It will make you feel as mad as a hatter!!!! Enjoy the journey

Love the fun/ retro decor, a lovely member of staff explained that they were busy with 2 lge groups and would come to us as soon as they could, which they did. Brought tasty coffees, baked potato and beef sandwich arrived great but no knives. They were so busy they forgot. When I saw cutlery arriving for others I asked for some. I noticed 2 managers having a meeting and lunch. This is when I did get annoyed. It seems that customers and dedicated staff mean nothing modern management. Is this just me.?? Left unhappy after complaining.

Wasn’t very impressed, the first time I came for a booking of afternoon tea - after giving us menus & confirming 3 times it was okay we got told they kitchen was now closed after 20 mins of waiting.Gave them the benefit of the doubt, went back 3 weeks later for the same booking to then get told we had no choice of what style afternoon tea we got (even though a friend had been in earlier that day & later informed me they got the choice?) So not sure why it was different for us.The sandwiches were not any of the fillings we got told would be served, resulting in neither of us liking them. A 45 min wait before food came & a chilly atmosphere. Not to mention both times there was NO toilet seat. In the 3 weeks passed that issue hasn’t been sorted. The lady I was with was also heavily pregnant so even more of a struggle for her.I would not recommend & after the second attempt, I can’t say it was much better.Dietary restrictions: They had a laco free afternoon tea

Quirky place, seems to be a different movie/subject for each room. Lots of cool memorabilia and props. The full English here is great, seriously tasty. Please bring back the bigger single mushroom though instead of the small ones. Service was good, friendly staff.

Excellent food, with decent portions. Great quirky decor. But massively let down by the very slow service. The waitress also had to come back twice to confirm our order. Should have been 4-5 stars, but the poor service let's it down unfortunately.

Reviews on here were good so went in with high expectations for a nice afternoon tea. Very disappointing. Whilst the sandwiches and scones were nice, the cakes were very plain and samey with the same chocolate frosting on all 3 cakes. The display at the main counter had some amazing looking cakes, but these didn’t come with the afternoon tea. Interiors were quirky, but felt cold and drafts inside and wasn’t much of a warm welcome either. I wouldn’t recommend.

Lovely relaxing and quiet after the school run. Fun and atmospheric for my kids party. Impressive to treat visitors to. Fab place, amazing tea selection and beautiful food with BIG portions.

Absolutely fantastic little find. Sandwiches were amazing, so much filling and really tasty. Proper quirky little place, the room at the back with Alice in wonderland theme was beautiful. Will definitely be back!
