Absolutely excellent evening shared with friends during a weekend away. Warm and friendly greeting, made to feel very welcone by Paul, and Eric the cat! Nibbles on arrival, followed by a series of delicious courses. Its a set menu where all guests eat at the same time in the cosy dining room. I'm veggie and my alternative starter and main dishes were excellent. A really enjoyable evening. Great value too.

Beautiful house ( old Rectory ) in a stunning setting. The food was one of the best I’ve ever eaten in the area. Amazing value for money. The vegetable garden is a ‘must see’ , I recommend the short walk to it before you tuck into your dessert. Can’t wait to try the homegrown artichokes and homemade butter. What a treat ! thank you for a great evening

We wanted a special menu with plenty of choice for a friend’s big birthday, and Upper Rectory delivered. Nothing fazed them: when some members of the party announced dietary needs or wanted something even fancier at the last minute, their flexibility and genuine attention was refreshing. I’m also impressed with their locally sourced produce and generous portions. Thank you!

We had Upper Rectory @ Home last night, and we couldn’t think how it could be made better. The portions were generous and the cooking and timings had all been really well thought through. The food was all delicious with lots of home grown elements. The lemon mousse was especially good!

Lovely dine-at-home meal. Clear and sensible instructions (all the parts of all the main courses at the same oven temperature for different times), and delicious food (the twice-baked cheese soufflé was a particular highlight). Lots of very fresh veg. Would recommend!

Tried the eat at home menu a few times over the last year and also Christmas day too. Really excellent food, easy to follow instructions on how best to serve. Food beautiful presented and canapes a real treat whilst waiting for our food to heat. Christmas day was a close to eating out as we could get. Highly recommend and cannot wait to book again

We spent 4 perfect nights at the shepherds hut, Berriew. It offers the best combination back to basics with a modern twist. Everything was there that you required, including a kitchen, Seating with a fire pit, BBQ gas or coal fired. The accommodation was warm and cosy with a log burner if required. The wet room was amazing, which was improved with a short meander with great views. Berriew village is a short walk away along the canal with 2 pubs, village shop, tea rooms and local butchers. The afternoon tea provided by the tea rooms was exquisite. There is also a local art museum. Amazing value and standards, we will definitely return.

Tried to make an order for takeaway and informed that the order had to be in by the previous Wednesday. Looked at the menu again and nowhere is that mentioned. Sorry, Upper Rectory, your loss. You won't see me try again and you will have a slating when people ask my opinion.
