Weekday lunch with my elderly mother & her cousin. The food & drink was very good, particularly hake & salmon fishcake (plenty of fish) and treacle tart with local ice cream.Of particular note however was the welcome we received which was outstanding, nothing too much trouble. We had been allocated an easily accessed table as requested, but moving to one with more light was no trouble & neither was assistance in accessing the ladies loo (up one step). Thanks for a lovely lunch

Really good food here last Saturday - we hadn't booked and the very helpful person behind the bar warned us there would be a wait of about 40 mins which turned out to be accurate. This was not a problem or us at all as it's a very nice environment to kill time in any case and the beer was very good. When the food did arrive all three mains were excellent and you can tell the kitchen are putting the effort in. Burger, battered fish and halloumi all perfectly done and with good chips (a benchmark). We live locally and this could be our new favourite amongst some decent competition.

A lovely community run pub in the beautiful village of Avon Dasset. A great place to refuel after a walk across the hills.

Lovely staff who when out of their way to accommodate our last minute changes to our booking, and squeezing our little doggie in, for Sunday lunch. I was undecided on what meat to have so went for the 'Trio' and what a Trio' ! each portion was a meal in its self.I rarely order beef as it can be so 'hit and miss' but was pleasantly surprised and wish I'd gone for just the beef as it was beautifully pink and tender, cooked to perfection!I can't wait to come back for the roast beef !The whole visit was a delightful experience from the friendly staff, good ale and a Sunday lunch to die for !Will be back !!

My favourite pub for miles & in a pretty village, the garden is lovely in summer especially with the beer shed because you can see it and only go up when there's no wait to be served, I will have food next time I go backI've had a burger n chips a few times and they are excellent so I reckon a proper meal will be as well :-)They serve locally made beer.

Excellent food and service. We came for dinner on a Saturday evening as it was the closest pub to where we were staying. Very glad we did.The pub was packed when we arrived but the locals were welcoming (one helped advise on beer choice). We had the calamari and chicken wings to start. For the main course I had the rib-eye with stilton sauce. The steak was well cooked (correctly, not well done, obviously!) My wife had the sea bass and risotto. The lemon, pea & parmesan risotto was fantastically creamy. The service was excellent. The young waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. Not inexpensive but justified by the quality, cookery and service. We would visit again.

Great English village pub very cosy with tasteful decor. Sunday lunch was unbeatable, a little more expensive than your usual roast but fully worth it and well thought through and cooked by the chef. Lamb shank fell off the bone, chicken spot on and sirloin nice and tender. All vegetables nicely cooked with great flavour complimented a great selection of drinks. Faultless lunch and absolutely fantastic service from the two waitresses from when you walked in the door. Keep in the great work.

Fabulous pub in a lovely village. Food was amazing - freshly prepared and cooked to perfection. The desserts were delicious and full of flavour. My friend and I pronounced it one of the best meals we’ve had! The atmosphere was nice, calm and relaxed, the proprietors are friendly and genuinely proud of their menu - as they should be! Thank you.

We enjoyed a stunning meal last night. The atmosphere is light, warm and friendly. The 2 young waitresses were super welcoming, caring and attentive. We had beautifully cooked fish and chips, properly cooked to a gorgeous golden brown colour, and a delicious teak and ale pie with mash, which was rich and really good quality. The ice cream was incredible! Surprisingly creamy and flavourful - try it!Oh, and there's a great selection of alcohol free beers, and the pricing of drinks and food is very reasonable. Not having eaten there before, my wife and I were expecting a 'simple pub dinner', but we what we experienced was 'truly delicious and delightful evening'. Highly recommended!
