Lovely traditional pub. Don't go expecting food though - it's a pub, not a restaurant masquerading as a pub ie trendy "Bar and Kitchen" flannel.Took a walk up from the canal at Cropredy last Friday, took about 50 minutes. Nice seating area out front, rear garden not currently in use. Clean and comfortable. No background music, no intrusive TV, just conversation. Busy with locals and the odd tourist family. Clean outside loos. I always judge a pub by the cleanliness of its toilets. It doesn't matter if they are old, just CLEAN. If the loos are clean then the cellar is probably ok and the kitchen, where appropriate, of a good standard. The only downside for my wife and i was ordering two pints of Hooky which were bottom of the barrel and definitely on the turn. Took them back, only the one handpump so exchanged for fizzy cider (it was a hot evening so not the end of the world for us). As i ordered a second round the landlord was flushing the ale line (perfectly acceptable if you are putting the same beer back on, needs a full clean if a different one). A bit later the landlord came over to where we had moved inside and offered me a quarter pint from the new barrel for our consideration. Spot on! So we finished with a pint each of lovely Hooky when we had only intended to have the two pints that evening.Every barrel has a bottom. Not a problem, it's how the bar staff deal with it that counts. So full marks. Conclusion: a proper pub with friendly locals and owners. We are rather fussy about beer quality. Both of us are cellar trained and between us have spent approximately 40 years behind the bar in award winning real ale pubs. As such we are looking forward to returning to The Green Man later this week.Almost forgot! CASH ONLY!

A small bunch of senior (retired) school mates on a short trip to Banbury and surrounding area, and decided to stop at Anita's caravan and camping site....AGreat place ....Just at the back and a short walk we have the Green man public house....A very very traditional pub, with a few guest ales and my favourite, Guiness....the landlord was first class, having been in the trade for the last 38 years....A very friendly pub with limited passing trade and these days the landlord is easing back heading for retirement.....therefore opening times have been limited.....from 7pm on Wed through to Sunday....Highly recommend, a very welcoming little country pub with masses of charm...a must see boozer...cheers, Chris.

Beautiful old village pub
Excellent and totally recommend
Lovely quirky country drinking pub. No meals but nice sofas and friendly staff. Very old with alot of character.
A great country pub but very expensive. $3-85 a pint of carling.
Friendly pub and good with dogs.
