A disappointing experience overall. I haven’t been to the Queen & Castle for a few years so was looking forward to a return visit. Despite a light and bright new interior decoration, and a friendly welcome, the good news all but stops there. Having been a walk in customer, I was offered a table for “an hour and 15 minutes” in an all but deserted restaurant. The service was okay, nothing special, 2 running running around barely coping with the handful of diners. The bread we ordered for a sharing starter was good! Our mains then turned up before the starter had been cleared away. We had ordered a steak pie, served with mash and veg and a pork belly and scallops, served with dauphinoise potatoes and veg. The portion of green veg on each plate was laughable, 2 pieces of tender stem broccoli and 3 green beans? Come on! The steak pie did taste great, but the Pork belly must have had a past life as the sole of a shoe. It was dry and tough. I couldn’t even cut into it! I managed to barely pull the end off but couldn’t bare a second mouthful. Unfortunately the crust on my potatoes was also awful having dried out under the hot lamp. Having been offered a free pudding to make up for it, which we declined as we did not fancy anything, we were then presented with a full bill. Sadly this is the last time I will be dining here!

Only slightly negative point is the lack of GF information on the menu meaning we have to use their allergen pages on a tablet to find out the information. That said there were GF options available which together with friendly helpful staff and the excellent food ticked all the boxes.

Jade was our server and she was simply the best, better than all the rest! Had a fabulous time! Great quality food, wine, service and ambience!Dietary restrictions: I have a nut and peanut allergy and my allergy was handled very safely and professionally and I received a flag with my food so I knew it was safe!

Came recommended by a work colleague, who lives locally. 4 of us from Yorkshire, 4 from Illinois. Plenty of free parking so long as you remember to register your car at the bar. Good choice, good portion sizes, very pleasant surroundings and inexpensive. Service was good and locals were friendly. Everything we had hoped it would be, when entertaining our relatives from the US. Oh and a fabulous castle just over the road. Marvellous!

We went on a whim at lunchtime and was not disappointed. Stuart our server was very attentive and professional. I had the fish and chips husband had the pie, both meals arrived quickly and hot.

Enjoyed our visit to the Q&C with friends and were well looked after by George, Danny and the team. They were flexible with our booking upon arrival and suggested we sit upstairs in a quieter section - great news for everyone as we had children in our group. Service was great throughout and everyone enjoyed their food. Definitely the place to go for a relaxed catch-up after a walk around the castle or Abbey Fields.
Lovely pub, comfortable and relaxing, good range of pub grub, delicious food, service really friendly - Stuart our server was really attentive and helpful with ordering for our son who has coeliac.

We visited here for dinner and drinks on New Years Eve. Good service throughout and the meals were lovely. However as it was New Year’s Eve it could have maybe had some entertainment and on the website it said it closed at 1am but it actually closed at 11:30pm which meant we had to get back to our hotel to see in the new year. This would also be a nice place to visit during the day for lunch before or after a visit to Kenilworth Castle which is across the road.
