Went for sunday lunch with family. Great staff and very good sunday lunch, probably the best around. They were very busy and we weren't offered a dessert menu but apart from that five stars. And friendly locals. And hot plates.

We went for Sunday lunch with the family and we really enjoyed our meal, I had the mushrooms and stilton starter which was gorgeous and the main Sunday lunch was great,crispy potatoes, plenty of veg, cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire pud. There were 5 of us and we all agreed it was lovely. Service was good too.

1. Positives, accomadated us re last minute booking,as we were on a tight time schedule .Lovely place & ran very efficiently with friendly staff.Had Sunday roast, potatoes & veg were lovely.2. Negatives, the meat on both meals was very disappointing, it appears to all be pre carved & reheated for serving, the beef looked like a burnt piece of cardboard, turkey was dried out, pork was more like a couple of slices of bacon. There was no stuffing with the pork dinner & only a coin sized piece with the turkey.Whilst I appreciate all the hard work that goes into accommodating people, the meat was a real let down.

in short.. great! Exactly what you as a “foreigner” imagine an attractive pub and diner to be. Great facility. Very nice and friendly staff. Tasty food. Would love to come back.
Our recent visit to The Bowling Green was exactly what we were looking for - a relaxed evening with some pub grub classics. We decided on a burger and a Caesar salad, which were both on point.Euan, our server, struck the right balance of attentiveness without being intrusive. He was friendly and ensured our orders were taken care of promptly.The burger was a classic delight - juicy and full of flavor. Paired with a side of crispy fries, it hit the spot. The Caesar salad, fresh and well-dressed, provided a nice contrast.While we only tried a couple of items from the menu, it's clear that The Bowling Green offers dependable pub fare. If you're in the mood for some comfort food in a relaxed setting, this is a good choice. Kudos to Euan for a pleasant evening.

It is a perfectly acceptable establishment with reasonable food and often live sports on TV in the bars. If you want somewhere quiet and safe to take your nan for dinner this may well be it.

It was okay.. it’s basic traditional roast , nothing fancy, so perfect if you like things simple and plain. The restaurant it’s self needs updating and refreshing as it smelt rather like a home. Wouldn’t rush back ., but it was pleasant
