The actual food was good. Gorgeous Mussels, delicious Chicken Cassoulet and very tasty starters. The prices were attractive too, for food of this quality. The kitchen staff clearly know what they are doing. They would be heartbroken to hear that all their good work, was undone by one individual. Our celebrations, (20th birthday for my son) were spoiled by the aggressive and abrasive waiter /barman. (I suspect he was Italian , age .. late 30’s ? ) What was the issue? My 20 year old son requested a beer, the waiter wanted to see ID. I don’t have an issue with this. (though I suspect the law when eating, is that he needs to be 16 and not 18 (Fortunately my son had his licence) The problem; was the rough, abrasive and challenging way it was demanded ! He basically suggested I was about to participate in a criminal act! We were in a restaurant spending £200 + on a meal. I don’t expect to be spoken to in that way. A little politeness would have been appreciated. Finally, the room was very cold. Our coats were not taken , they ended up on the floor. The whole evening we got the feeling that the diners were an inconvenience to the staff. Hard to recommend!

Had a fabulous stay here, great package deal with a lovely evening meal. Staff all were great, particularly Mary, they made great conversation and were attentive at all times, but just to the right level. Also were fun and happy with created just the right spirit.

Our Queen of Breakfast, Mary, was very delightful, engaging and extremely hospitable! Loved her energy! She was very accommodating to our dietary needs! We loved the ambiance in this hotel Food was delicious! Drinks the night before were quite amazing as well! We will certainly return!!! Special thanks to my bartender last night for showing me a local scotch!

Stayed for the a two day Christmas package from the 24th to the 26th. Everything was fabulous and the food was delicious. All the staff went out of their way to look after us and a special shout goes out to the team serving us in the restaurant, you all made Christmas really special.

A fantastic spot for lunch - lovely decor, great food and (as you’d expect in Hotel du Vin) a comprehensive wine list. I was pleased to see that there were few a number of vegan options, whereas I’m used to having one token option to choose from. We dined on a Monday in early December and the restaurant was quiet and relaxed. I had the mushrooms on bruschetta to start followed by risotto; my guest ate coquiles followed by dorade. The portions were surprisingly large. I have to say thank you to Mary, who served us. Mary was attentive, friendly and a delight to be served by. Highly recommended.

Had 1 dinner and 2 breakfasts here and all were superb! Excellent choice at breakfast of bircher muesli and yoghurts and delicious cooked breakfast especially avocado on toast with perfectly poached eggs. Dinner we had the chateaubriand and malbec deal and it was amazing. All staff were brilliant especially Mary at breakfast who was a delight.

Stunning food, a real gastro experience. Ribeye was mouth watering, mussels in a lovely white wine sauce, and beef bourguinon really good. Service good but the place was almost empty on a Saturday evening so perhaps the prices have put off some people in cost-conscious times.

Restaurant looked like an empty canteen; no style whatsoever. The service was good, with an engaging talkative waiter. The main problem here is the food quality. I don’t think I have ever experienced such over-cooked spongy calves liver. Beef cheek was clearly vacuum packed and reheated. Starters were averagely ok. Prices are relatively high. Won’t return.
