Shocked by being charged £4.25 for a pint of Pepsi, which is made from a concentrate. Made me regret doing dry January!

Nice ambiance upstairs where we were seated. First visit for us. When it was time to order, none of the mains we wanted were available and we were told it was because deliveries couldn’t get through due to the road closure for the Christmas market. We ended up having steaks. Something we wouldn’t have gone for. All were ordered medium but one was virtually blue when it came. Sent it back but was hardly any different when I came back. Couldn’t eat it. This wasn’t charged for and 20% was deducted from the total bill but sadly one person was leaving hungry.

We visited the Encore on the 30th of December. It was the final part of my mums birthday trip to Stratford after seeing A Box of Delights at the RSC. Safe to say the experience was NOT a box of delights in any way, shape or form. I’d chosen the restaurant as my mum is approaching 80 and I wanted somewhere near to our hotel and to the theatre that we could walk to and the reviews looked good so it seemed to fit the bill. Well where can I start…got taken straight up to the table and were seated immediately…which was great and there endeth the positive review. Waited at table for 15 minutes then had to go and ask one of the many young staff hovering and chatting at the top of the stairs if someone could come and get a drinks order and bring menus. Menus are deposited and orders for starters taken…within five minutes my chicken parfait starter was put on the table and we still haven’t received our drinks, go to chase staff again…Girl turns up and we ask if they have fever tree tonic for mums gin (she’s quite particular about FT!) get told yes they do so order large G & T and bottle of wine. Gin turns up in huge glass full to the brim with tonic water, the tonic should always come separately so you can add your own. Mum asks for a fresh gin and the bottle of FT get told they DON’T do FT and the tonic water comes from a tap but that they will get a replacement. Leave bottle of wine on table with no glasses. Go to chase staff again for glasses. Take opportunity when glasses come to order mains. Mum sea bass, me sourdough margherita pizza. Wait half an hour. Go to chase staff again get told it will be ten to fifteen minutes before mains arrive as they are ‘busy’. Go to chase staff again to remove starter plate from table which has been sat there despite numerous different staff attending or walking past table. Sea bass (dry and not fresh) arrives long before any sign off pizza. Pizza turns up eventually. Most far removed thing from a sourdough margherita I’ve ever seen. Oily, undercooked grated cheddar on a practically raw base with three raw halved cherry tomatoes dumped on top. I send it straight back to be cooked further. Comes back five minutes later slightly browner with the addition of three basil leaves. I take one bite and it’s totally unacceptable. Like bland (undercooked) cheese on toast. Send it back and say I want it taking off the bill and ask to speak to manager. Manager comes and says the kitchen has run out of mozzarella so they are using cheddar instead (!)…why not just take pizzas off the menu?! Manager then tells me that is what their sourdough pizzas are like…I point out that I eat sourdough pizzas all the time and surely they can tell the difference at which point manager says ‘I wouldn’t know…I don’t have time to eat out…I’m either working here or looking after my kids…(!)’…at this point we decided just to cut our losses and leave so I could go and find something to eat elsewhere…service and food appalling, staff totally under trained, inattentive and lacking in any customer service skills. Clearly a place designed to cater for one off visitors rather than attempting to build any kind of longer term relationship. Only sign of any customer service came from the lady on the door on the way out who directed me to carluccios down the road…think I burnt more calories chasing after staff to get things done than I actually consumed. DO NOT RECOMMEND. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.

Popped in for a drink and something to eat on route home to the North West. We were impressed by the choice of meals and enjoyed the 10 oz ribeye steak and pan roasted lamb rump. Both delicous.

Advertised outside in multiple places about a set menu available. No mention outside or in restaurant about it starting a week later until I asked. Staff looked genuinely annoyed when I enquired about it. No thanks, won't be

Parking nearby but not in site, there is a multi storey about 5 mins walk away. The place is quite large upstairs and down. The staff were very friendly and we were served swiftly at the start and throughout. The reason for only 4 stars is that a lot of items on the menu were out of stock, I understand there may be supply issues but we were not informed at the start and only informed when attempting to order with the reply "oh I think we are out of that" as such was choosing substitutions and in the case if the desert, nothing. That being said the food was lovely, service was good and friendly and overall was a nice place. Good for families.

We had a satisfactory experience at the Encore this evening. It was only saved by our outstanding server, Rory. He was an absolute Hunk Muffin 10/10 and he saved our NIGHT. He was brilliant under pressure and spent the entire night apologising for others mistakes. We waited an hour and a half for our main course. When they came the food was only satisfactory. We spoke to Rory and he was very apologetic and went above and beyond to rectify the issue. We would not be returning for any other reason then to see Rory for a drink.

Disappointing and poor value for money. We came here for lunch on New Year's Eve - a family of four. We sat upstairs and had excellent service from our waiter - he was super attentive and really helpful. Unfortunately the quality of food and long wait times didn't match his standards . We waited nearly 45 minutes for our food and the restaurant wasn't full so no excuse for such long wait times from the kitchen. Food is definitely over priced. My son ordered some bread and houmous (some of the bread was burnt); the mozzarella and parmesan bites were over cooked. The sea bass fillets were lovely but this meal was limited and not worth the price tag. Overall such a disappointing meal and far too expensive, for what it was. We won't return here again.

Served by Ruaidhri who was incredible and deserves a pay rise. Stake was not in house and pear was strange but Ruaidhri was fantastic and made the night worth while (was also my birthday) thankyou very much happy new year

This was a booking of 6 for Christmas day. There was no happy festive atmosphere.Glasses on the table were all disgustingly dirty. The quality of food was not worth the money we paid. It was more like a cheap supermarket cafe. We all left feeling hungry meaning I still had to cook dinner at home.It was the worst Christmas dinner we have ever had.

Really nice atmosphere, quiet busy, I would recommend booking a table.

Great food and service. Really enjoyed our evening, two of us had dirty burgers, and all had dessert. Fab service and lovely food. Bonus of live music. Will definitely visit again.

We booked a last minute table for dinner this evening, for myself, my husband and two teenagers. The restaurant was busy, so there was a bit of a wait for food, but it was worth waiting for. Front of house staff were great, special mention to Izzy who was absolutely lovely and looked after us really well. We had the carrot soup and chips, prawn crab and chorizo linguine, Margherita pizza and cheeseburger, which all came together as requested and was piping hot, fresh and delicious. Only two of us had room for dessert, the apple and damson crumble and the trio of desserts, which were all very tasty too.
