Visited for dinner, was greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. We did the tasting menu and were excited to see what the restaurant had to offer. I really enjoyed the restaurant, and found the staffs personalities to be some of my favourite parts of the dinner. We had a special evening trying the menu. The food is incredibly well plated, with some beautiful technique and interesting colours. I found, however, some of the flavours did not match the aesthetics off the dishes overall. We also had empty aperitif glasses along with empty gin bottles on the table for about 4 courses, which I had to ask to be taken after they had been ignored each time. It unfortunately took away from the experience to have our table resemble a pub. We also had to provide a polite reminder to receive the wine we had ordered after waiting a quite a number of courses. Although it is not a deal breaker, this is not the level of attentiveness expected from a restaurant of this calibre.Overall, friendly staff and attractive dishes, but I found the flavours to lack creativeness and the attentiveness could be improved.

Thank you for a fabulous lunch for my mum's birthday, it was a real surprise for her and she loved it, and the card was a nice touch. Amazing what you can do with a carrot, and I don't eat chocolate desserts but that was stunning. Yummy!

I took my mum here for mother's day lunch (well the Thursday after) we arrived about 30 mins early but the friendly staff had no problems seating us straight away. Our server brought us some water for the table and took our drinks order. We chose to have the 6 course taster menu with the lamb main and shortly after the food started to arrive. We sat in the back by the kitchen and I got to watch the chefs preparing the meals. There was no panic everything was calm and they really looked as though they were enjoying it as much as I was ☺️At no point did we feel rushed and had plenty of time to enjoy each course. Our server explained each course so we knew exactly what we were having. The food was exquisite. I especially enjoyed the home made bread and butter, the cod dish was amazing as was the carrot course, which I admit, I wasn't expecting. If I had to pick out one course to put on a pedestal it had to be the rhubarb and custard dessert. On my first taste of this I floated away in my own world. The chef that made this dish needs to have a special bonus because that was out of this world. The flavours and textures were perfect. BRAVO!!!Overall the whole experience was a delight. Would I go back, definitely. Would I recommend it to friends and family, definitely (already have). A fantastic experience from start to finish.

I've wanted to dine at Salt for a long long time and today thanks to wonderful and generous friends we did.First obviously, the food. Excellent!! We had the 4 course set menu and my palate was singing from the outset. The bread, potato starter, cod were beautiful, but the outstanding course for me, and it truly was outstanding was the squab pigeon, cooked to perfection, the sauce was incredible, thank you Head Chef Laura and sous chef Harry (who's brains I picked for the jus), and not forgetting Fin the pastry chef for the dessert, exquisite! The food and wine though are only part of the experience, front of house needs to be spot on also and THEY were.Nico, Kirsty and Aimie were excellent, they explained the food andwine like any maitre d' would/should.Excellent food, service and experience, I/we will certainly be back 5*'s all the way.Thank you all.

All the hard work by the chefs and waiting staff was completely undone by the arrogant, uncompromising, unsympathetic restaurant manager, which made our 3 hour dinner one of the most uncomfortable experiences I have ever had in my entire life.We arrived slightly earlier than our reservation, expecting to be offered a cocktail whilst we waited.. Nothing of the sort. We felt we were getting in the way as they prepared for service, so we went to the pub across the road for 20 minutes and had a drink there instead. When we eventually sat down for dinner it transpired that the only menu available was the valentines set menu at £95 pp.We were at least expecting to be able to choose something smaller from an à la carte menu for our 7 year old. Nope. This place did NOT cater for children on our visit!!The manager flatly pointed out that it was my mistake and that their website clearly stated that the valentines set menu was the only one available. Obviously it was not clear enough to me. Had I known I wouldn't have reserved a table. The manager gave us no choice but to pay £95 for my 7 year old, who barely touched anything. We would have had to pay for it regardless of if they served it or not.I don't know who this manager thinks they are, or what they think they have in this establishment, but it won't last long with service like that. Absolutely appalling!I literally felt like I'd been mugged. The manager will probably reply to this review and refer back to their terms and conditions, like the jobsworth they were on the night, but I'll point out that it says 'we have the right to charge', which would imply that there is scope for compromise. It doesn't say 'you will be charged no matter what'.The £95 for my child could have been waived and the food not served. Hell, I might have been willing to swallow a £54 cancellation fee for my child's meal, but nope, the manager wanted it all.Had they compromised, I would more than likely have spent at least £95, if not more, on drinks.. This manager belongs in a Nando's or something of the like. They should be nowhere near a fine dining restaurant. It would appear that the manager's arrogance is on full display in their replies to some of the negative reviews here. I am expecting a similar response to this review.Anyone with an ounce of empathy would have treated us in a different way entirely, like the restaurant we went to the following day, The Coach, Marlow. They accommodated us and our young child without any fuss whatsoever, even to the point of providing an off menu desert, without any problem. The difference in experience was like night and day.EDIT: Your sarcastic response does nothing but prove my point.I was not in any way shape or form rude. You are the chef/ owner but we never saw you all night, so how would you know I was rude, apart from one of your staff members telling lies?Yes I was upset and very surprised by the hardline approach, but I was never rude. It's difficult to enjoy a meal when you feel like you've been extorted. No one even apologised, just recited your Ts&Cs.I wasn't even expecting an a la carte menu for myself, just the ability to choose something smaller for our child.I was in fact looking forward to trying your tasting menu..Nowhere on your website does it say "we do not cater for children". When I booked the table there was no provision to indicate a child would be present. You didn't need to charge the £95 to cancel our 7 year old's meal, but the fact that you did speaks volumes.I'm not the only person to point out how terrible your restaurant is, hiding behind your Ts&Cs and with ZERO compromise. You say I'm rude and entitled, yet just look at your response to all the negative reviews. You simply can't take any criticism. Anyone with an ounce of humility would take it on board and do better.Anyone who walks through your door is entitled to have an opinion about their experience and this is mine. There's no point telling me to never c

Dined last night on the taster menu and it was exceptional. Been a few times previously where everything was good, however last night was the best. I’m a pescatarian and I had my own menu ready when I sat down. The stars of the night were the burford brown and miso and the desert that reminded me of vintage caramac chocolate and solero ice cream, genius together. Thank you for the great food and fantastic service, email correspondence previously was quick and accommodating. You made a birthday girl very happy!

Repeatedly tried to call - no answer. Answer phone said to email. Emailed and no response for 5 days. Visited in person to find it closed, despite their Google business page showing it open. Thai restaurant next door said they’re closed on school holidays… A reply a week later from this business says that the information of closure was available on a page on their website… not their homepage, not their answer phone, and not Google. If you have a gift voucher, seems you’ll have to plan months in advance to use it. Money down the drain. Would have hoped a ‘Michelin’ starred restaurant would have the basics of customer communication clear.Reply to the owner: Sadly, there was nothing ‘clear’ about the website. Unless you navigated to a random page, there was nothing clear about opening times/dates. ‘Clear’ would have been a simple banner with on the homepage. The most obvious comms opportunities were missed - and seeing as the owner can access their business Google account in replying, a shame no one could take the few minutes to mark the business as ‘closed’ on the world’s biggest search engine… ‘Google’…

Fantastic experience. Wonderful staff who were so welcoming and really made us feel at home. Food was beautiful, not everyone liked every dish equally but all really interesting. Highlights were the 11 year old bread, the carrots (unbelievably good), the best beef we have ever had, and the fudge. The paired wines were great, and we were given just the right amount of information about them. We brought a dog who was also made welcome. Highly recommended.

We have visited all of the Michelin starred restaurants in Warwickshire and most of those in West Mids over the past year and chose the best one to return to at Christmas, my wife and I quickly decided that was Salt. This restaurant is pleasantly informal but intensely professional in every thing they do. The front-of-house staff are outstanding and food is off-the-scale brilliant. We spent well over 3 hours enjoying 8 plates of perfection from the tasting menu. The wine pairings hit the spot every time and 2 of the dishes were the best I have ever tasted. Absolutely dazzling experience from start to finish. Thanks to all the staff for your amazing efforts.

Absolutely amazing. Fabulous, inquisitive food, prepared and presented beautifully. Wonderful FOH staff - fun and knowledgeable. Opened up new wins for us, brilliantly selected and explained. Just a beautiful lunch in lovely surroundings. 10/10

Our first visit to this restaurant, we thoroughly enjoyed the 6 course tasting menu together with the matching wine flight. Each course was superb, excellent flavours and presentation. The wines selected for us matched each course perfectly. A very pleasant, comfortable and happy atmosphere and the staff and service were top notch. Excellent value for money for a Michelin starred restaurant. Will definitely return.
