Called to see if they did takeaway as I really fancied pie n mash but didn't want to sit in the pub by myself. They told they didn't have a suitable takeaway container for pie n mash.... I could have something else or eat in..... oh I said.... they then came back with bring your own plate!!!!So glad I did. BEST PIE & MASH. Veg cooked well, beef melts in your mouth and the mash is so creamy!!!!I will be coming back with my own takeaway box!!!! 100% worth every penny!Food & drinks: Amazing ?

Basic, no-frills pub in Wellesbourne. Cheap but good traditional pub food. Recently reopened after a major fire.

Lovely old pub has just been rebuilt after another fire .. we went for Sunday lunch ...on entering I was waiting at the bar for quite a while so I went into another room to try my luck there .. eventually a young girl did come to serve.. the pub was not busy.. anyway we ordered 2x beef lunches which at £9.50 were good value... one thing that was going constantly was the ding of a microwave.. the food came out after 20 minutes and was very school dinner ish. Frozen veg and Yorkshire 's. And machine cut beef.. on the next table 2 elderly lady's were having lunch and the lasagne one had was so microwaved it was inedible.. I did eat most of mine but not really enjoyable ..

The only reason I gave 1 star is because I couldn't go any lower , waiting 45mins for 4 toasted sandwiches., which were ham, cheese tomato and onion. They toasted the ham and cheese and put the tomato and onion in cold after toasting and obviously an afterthought as we had to remind them. And as for the Tea, don't start me , had cold tea, next time I'll bring a flask ....
If you like proper cask ale this is the place. London Pride was Bob on. Only criticism was, I had to go home.

We thoughtwe would give the pub a try for dinner as it has only recently reopened after a fire. I was not expecting gourmet food as menu and prices were more traditional pub grub. Steak and ale pie was fine and served with plenty of (rather pale looking) vegetables. No complaints at £8.99. Just a shame the cosy lounge seems to be the drinking bar and we were directed into the rather plain and empty bar area to eat. Our conclusion was that this is a local drinkers pub rather than somewhere special to go to eat.
Good beers and very friendly staff.
First visit...Nice pub & good choice of
