Our quest for the best Balti Houses in Black Country South took an interesting turn tonight when we visited the Undaal in Quarry Bank... Having previously dined at both its rivals the Blue Ball and the Spice Tree, which weren't particularly good, our expectations were quite low however it turned out to be such a good experience that we felt compelled to write a review. To start, the welcome we received was excellent. The staff - including the owner, who seemed obsessed with quality (no bad thing!) - were incredibly attentive and hospitable, sitting us at a table of our choice in a nicely decorated restuarant area that resembled Langley's famous Bangla Garden (minus the plants!).Poppadoms were served promptly with dips of onions/cucumbers, mango sauce, red onions (unpickled), and thick and creamy mint sauce reminscient of that served at The Chutney in Roseville. The Poppadoms thenselves were fresh, crisp, and very lightly salted - perfect!Starters were also excellent. My girlfriend had Pakora Chicken, which was brilliantly cooked and nicely battered, while I had the Lamb Samosa, which was hand-made and super fresh. For the main, we both had Chicken Balti, Rice, and shared a garlic and coriander naan, which was probably the best-looking naan I've seen during our quest of 50-odd resturants so far. As for the taste, it was great - every distinct flavour in the sauce pinged out (a sign of freshness), and its colour and consistency were nigh on perfect. At the end of the meal, we were treated like royalty - personal service from the owner, who even helped me put on my coat!In terms of price, it was a couple of pounds more than average for the area but the quality of the food and dining experience it was well worth it!In previous reviews, I talked about Bangla Cottage, Indulgence, and Zahra Spice being the 'holy trinity' of the best quality food in the Black Country South area, but since the unfortunate closure of the former, I can quite confidently say that Undaal now commands a place in the very top of the roost.Well done to the owner, staff and chefs at Undaal - quality counts and your resturant has it in abundance!Tom Richards

Just ordered £50 worth of food. Waited an hour and half for delivery. Ordered 3 starters that state comes with salad. Didn't get any salad. Ordered two curries that came with a smashed up poppadom. I'd rather spend my £50 somewhere else.

Little gem of a curry house! This is an unlicensed establishment with great service! Bring your own alcohol. Service is great and the food is incredibly tasty! Highly recommend booking on a weekend as it gets very busy.
