First time trying here. Food was lovely but service not the best.Staff seemed lost. 2 people infront of me and 1 behind. When paying for my food man behind was being served. He had ordered 15 mins previous and was coming to collect. One girl asked the other about his order. Yes its here just needs to pay. Order was written down and left on front counter and only passed to the kitchen to be prepared once he'd arrived. So he still had to stand and wait to one side like the rest of us. I still left before him even though he had ordered a good 20 mins before me.

We love fish and chips from here. Only discovered this chippy a few weeks ago, it's the best one around. Friendly staff that know exactly what they are

After waiting 45 minutes, after my order was taken, & wrote down, I watched the shop empty around me...So I asked the question, where my order was to be told they'd forgot it, my order was under lots of other bits of paper. Organised chaos... I had my money back, & asked the question, what happened, to be told, they didn't know, I wouldn't pay them in pea nuts, imagine if they had a responsible job, that held them accountable.. The mind boggles....Safe to say, I won't be going back.... ?...

Popped in for takeaway fish and chips for me and the missus. Have been here before and knew about the history and good reputation of this local landmark. However, although I was the only customer in the shop, the staff were all in the back, and I felt ignored. Eventually a very unenthusiastic member of staff come forward to take my order. Whilst waiting for my food, I looked around: everything seemed shabby and grubby. Maybe the business should have spent some money on cleaning the interior, rather than painting a very large Union flag on the exterior to mark the Coronation of King Charles? I paid, left, and brought our meal home. I never have salt and vinegar put on in the shop, as this makes everything soggy by the time you unwrap it at home. When I opened this lot, the fish was average (with soggy batter), but the chips were horrible. Lukewarm, soggy and, unfortunately, inedible. With the benefit of hindsight, I should have returned and asked for a refund but, instead, I just binned the lot and chose to never return here.
This is the second time I've had fish and chips from Ivan's. I would highly recommend it. The food is absolutely beautiful. Next time I'm in the area, I will be calling in for more thanks ?

Great fresh fish and chips that are delicious ? ?

What a palava!!!, went to Ivan's today, NEVER AGAIN, super slow service, antiquated pricing structure, chips ( which I think we're frozen) and the size of a large portion would not satisfy the hunger of a 5 year old. It's such a shame that an establishment like this has'nt just gone down the pan, it's greased it to go quicker.Really dissatisfied with the quality and size of the portions but it looks like another chippy is forsaking quality over profit.

To have warmed up chips you sometimes have to accept BUT To have fish so warmed up it's shriveled up to looking like a piece of ribbon!!!The warmed up fish and chips at 7pm tonight was absolutely DISGUTING!!!!!!!And to think he has boards in the street bragging it's fresh fish??????Won't use again quite honestly the worst fish and chips I ever had.No wonder there's boards on the street. obviously not paying for it's self
