My husband and I stopped here for lunch and were delighted with the atmosphere and very friendly reception. The monk fish tails I had were delicious and cooked to perfection. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the wood fired pizza. We will go back next time we are in the area.

Found this place by accident, there is no signs on the building from the car park so we thought it was a farm building, wonderful food, service was OKa little slow, prices were on the upper range for lunch but the quality was superb. Highly

Quite a lukewarm welcome . Not very busy. The menu looked quite varied, but the food was very unexciting. Our second visit and maybe our last. The service was almost begrudgingly served. Really disappointing.

Really nice dinner out, good quality food. Service was good. Price is as expected for this area. Would recommended and go again.

Third time here. So good I chose it for my birthday dinner. Best Margaritas for miles! Food is faultless, would highly recommend.

Relaxing Lunch with friends. Very pleasant atmosphere and service. Good quality food from interesting menu. We each enjoyed all our three courses and the white wine. We shall return!

This is a really wonderful place, beautiful interior, lots of wood and atmospheric lighting, with a gorgeous river view. I had sea bream and cannellini beans; delicious, followed by a chocolate torte and ice cream, more delicious food. My husband loved his too. Staff were attentive and charming. Definitely coming again and I would recommend for anyone, including families.

Great location but wouldn’t return to this restaurant sadly. So you pay for the location. We visited for Sunday lunch and were whisked through the place for a 2 course fine dining lunch and were in and out in 1.5 hours. The staff were very sweet , young girls probably all under 20 years of age , but did not have the calibre of service for such an expensive restaurant. They brought glasses of wine when we wanted a bottle. Didn’t know anything about the wine and took the glass away immediately the last drop was drunk. Nothing more was offered. We ordered items from a small menu and 2 dishes were not available. One was only tomatoes which was replaced with uncooked leeks which were stringy. The monkfish was small but nice. My friends fish was overseasoned, small portion and heavy on the spices which overtook the fish. We finished our food and the plates were whisked away again just as we put the knife and fork down. Our satisfaction was not asked at any point during our visit. We ordered 2 deserts which looked like a Pannacotta but were not set which we regretted. They looked terrible and were served in cheap bowls with marinated strawberries floating round them so didn’t look attractive . Again our bowls were removed as soon as the spoons were set down. The dog on the floor at the table next to us kept jumping about and we were relieved when they left only for another table of 6 to arrive with a huge dog like a wolfhound. The bill was expensive for a local restaurant, more like London prices without the finesse and food ok but could have made as good myself. I have never ordered monkfish and had it served 15 minutes later ! I would liken the service to Pizza Express which I like but the bill is cheaper ! We were fine though as we popped off to Steyning afterwards for a pot of tea and cake as we were hungry! No presence of the owner was felt but we understood he was there as he was chatting with his friends who were lunching, which was very obvious.

A real treat to find food this good in rural West Sussex. Add in the location (right by the river, as the name would suggest), the decor, ambiance and the eclectic but excellent wine list and you have all the ingredients for a great experience.

What an absolute delight to find a place that understands interior design and top quality food. We visited a while back over a busy sunny weekend and couldn’t get in so returned yesterday with friends for a delightful long lunch. From start to finish it was amazing and the food couldn’t have been fresher! All cooked to perfection with generous portions, non of the crazy tasting menu stuff that drives me crazy! The menu changes monthly I believe. I had the monkfish tail for mains and it didn’t disappoint, absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. All tables have been set out well and considered. We all had a lovely view of the river and then moved to the sofa area for our coffees after. I wish I had taken some pictures but we were all too busy enjoying ourselves so I’ve shared some form their website. I really recommend the house white wine (organic and available by the glass) went perfectly with the monkfish. We will definitely return, would love to see it at night also as the lighting has been set out to make for a gorgeous glowing restaurant.Cant fault this place at all.Book it you won’t regret it.

The staff and the owner especially are incredible. What a vibe, food lives up to the expectations. Eclectic, wonderful and such a surprising wine list, hand chosen by the owner. I would highly recommend it!!!!

Great evening, great food. One male member of waiting staff did not smile all evening and we all felt as though we were unwelcome. Hospitality is the name of the game, tell him to lighten up or leave! He is having a detrimental effect on the ambiance. We were told he was a friend of the owner...owner needs to wise up fast.
