We stopped at the Earl of March for a Saturday lunch, having not eaten here for some time and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience.Service: Both the front and rear of staff were extremely professional and friendly.Food: The fish and chips were noteworthy, due to their size and quality. This was genuinely the largest battered cod we had ever seen! The chicken pie special dish was also fantastic.Value for Money: The standard of food and portion size mean that you get great value for money.

Wow what a find. Booked a table for aPre theatre meal. So glad we did as the food was first class. Best steak I've ever had i reckon. Friendly service and great value. Highly recommended ? ? ?

I very rarely complain as I know firsthand how hard it is to run a restaurant. I’m even more reluctant to post this as a longstanding customer of the Earl of March. But I have been horrified by the approach taken by the new management which seemingly places short-term profit above their customers’ health and wellbeing.I had to cancel a recent evening booking for two people as my friend had tested positive with Covid that very morning. Despite cancelling the booking at 7am by phone, email and the online booking system, I was charged £30. I took this up with the manager - including coming in with proof of the positive test as my phone call had been met with disbelief - but was told that there was nothing that could be done.It is my duty to warn everyone that this establishment seems to prefer customers with Covid to honour their bookings, and risk spreading the virus to others, than allow them to cancel with no charge. As if this wasn’t enough, I have never been treated as rudely by a restaurant’s management. Dismissive, accusatory and downright offensive…so much for the season of goodwill! Suffice to say that I will not be returning and strongly suggest that others avoid unless you wish to support high-handed, rude profiteers who show no care for their customers.

On holiday visiting family and we detoured as this pub/restaurant was recommended to us. It certainly did not disappoint. A friendly welcome from Helen, presented with a fabulous choice of dishes. Pie of the day came highly recommended and again did not disappoint. Recommend you try the breads- delicious! Service was outstanding and the presentation and taste of the food was exceptional. We will definitely return on our next visit. Lovely to meet the family (fellow Northerners). Try the scrambled egg and smoked salmon bagel …amazing ??

Arrived before opening time, but my friend and I made welcome, lovely friendly helpful staff. Made a fuss of my dog too. Many thanks

Amazing Christmas dinner at The Earl of March. This was our first time at The Earl of March, and it certainly did not disappoint. Suzie really looked after us and made sure all was good. The food was excellent and I will definitely be coming back.

My partner went out with her mum and friend and I was appauled to hear that her Mum was borderline called a liar as they were told by front of house that they didn't have a reservation which was not true as they made the call a day in advance and was confirmed. My partner has a soya allergy and whom ever took the order said they would check with the chef to make sure she could have certain dishes. They apparently checked. However, dish came out with Edamame beans... Which are literally Soya.Training is definitely needed after such a stupid mistake as that. The saving grace for the service was a gentleman called Jamie who I was told was excellent.I didn't attend, thankfully, I don't intend to.

My partner and I went for dinner at the Earl of March last night. The food and service were outstanding, leagues ahead of a majority of pubs and restaurants in the area which tend to be slightly underwhelming. The menu itself was exciting with lots of seasonal ingredients and the dishes did not disappoint they were (consistently) so delicious and impressive with so many different elements, textures and flavours throughout the whole meal. The service was also fantastic and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I really recommend the Earl of March for a delicious and exciting meal out- I am so happy we've found this gem.

Way overdue in writing this review but I am still SO appreciative of how this lovely place took in a hot and weary walker on a scorching June day and made me up a delicious fish and chips. Great service, they came over with a huge carafe of water to help me get rehydrated. Gastropub quality food but a nice neighborhood place with no pretension, wonderful!

Terrible food and even worse service. Made to fee they were doing you a favour in delivering a small portion of cold, overpriced food.

The food in this place is outstanding! Being vegan means we normally have to settle when eating out, especially in pubs. This food has a fine dining feel to it with great care going into flavours and presentation. We’ve visited 3 times recently and each time has been lovely. The chef is clearly passionate about what he does. The front of house staff also are brilliant! Looking forward to a Sunday roast. The non vegan food I saw also clearly was given just as much attention as mine. As a vegan though, the chef does request we give him notice of our visit so he can get creative!
