The first time to AG’s although we have visited the Reflections restaurant in the same location on a few previous occasions. We had Christmas lunch, and the whole experience from arrival, with drinks in the Champagne Lounge to departure was amazing. The quality and presentation of the food was exceptional as was the high level of service and attention from the staff. Highly recommended on every level

This was one of the worse food experiences I've ever had. We had one option and that was the ten course "tasting journey". It started off with a crab dish that was very average but ok and followed by the langoustine which i did enjoy but after that it was all very disappointing. The Grange Farm Venison almost made me gag, I had one bite and It was so hard to chew, I honestly just wanted to spit it out but was too embarrassed.

Brilliant taster menu. Having eaten in michelin star restaurants this was definitely of equal quality of food and service. Only issue is having room for all the lovely food!

Johnny thank you for the amazing tastes

This restaurant is trying very hard to be in the style of a Michelin starred fine dining restaurant. It is a lovely room with good service. But the food was at best average, and sometimes not even that. Forget all the fancy stuff and remember that the food is all-important.

Alexander House is a beautiful property in the Sussex countryside. Expanded over recent years to now include an impressive spa. We visited for Sunday lunch at AGs restaurant. Parking was easy and we walked through to be greeted by the doorman who showed us to the restaurant. The restaurant is small, decor is dated and there was a very sad looking small table decoration on each table. There was only one waiter who was dressed in a checked blue suit and brown shoes which seemed wrong in such a traditional setting. We tried to order a glass of Veuve Cliquot from the drinks menu but this wasn’t available. Our starters were underwhelming and served in a bowl that looked like you’d give your dog his breakfast in it rather than lunch for guests in a five star hotel. Main courses were good with generous portion sizes (although one was lukewarm) but dessert was delicious. It is a beautiful historic setting and overall our experience of lunch in this restaurant just wasn’t up to the standard that it should have been.

We had an excellent evening punctuated by the arrival of the many courses. I did wish afterwards that I had opted for the cheese course!

We visited this restaurant on 27th June 2021 for Sunday Lunch, to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday. When making the reservation I explained that my wife has a wheat intolerance and would therefore require a Gluten Free menu. I was assured that this would not be a problem and that most of the items on the menu could be served Gluten Free. When we arrived alarm bells started to ring as none of the items on the menu were marked as Gluten Free. This is now pretty standard in most decent restaurants. When asked, the waiter explained what was available and my wife chose the soup followed by the roast beef for the main course. Whilst the choice of non Gluten Free bread that is offered is very good, the actual Gluten Free bread option is extremely poor. Only white Gluten Free bread was provided and the quality was not good. Once again our experience is that many restaurants make the effort to serve very good Gluten Free bread, but that was sadly not the case here. When the roast beef arrived it was accompanied by a yorkshire pudding, despite being told when ordering that we would have to have the meal without the yorkshire pudding, as this was not Gluten Free,. However, when the meal arrived there was a yorkshire pudding on the plate! When asked if this was Gluten Free we were told that it was not. This is deeply concerning that a fine dining restaurant like this, made the mistake of serving the main course with a non Gluten Free item included and was not able to offer a Gluten Free yorkshire pudding considering the reservation was made over a month in advance. Although this was removed from the plate no alternative was offered. Once again our experience is that most restaurants serving this type of dish will serve a non gluten free yorkshire pudding, so why is it so difficult for this restaurant to not do the same? The choice of Gluten Free desserts was very disappointing. Initially my wife was only offered ice cream! When we queried this the waiter did not know if any alternative was available but agreed to check with the chef. The best they could come up with was the Creme Brulee dish without the shortbread, which my wife reluctantly accepted. From this unfortunate experience it is quite clear that this restaurant does not cater for customers that require Gluten Free food. Instead of making the effort to prepare dedicated Gluten Free dishes, which are clearly labelled on their menu, they appear happy to take the easy route and simply remove the relevant items from the dish and make no attempt to replace them with an alternative, On a different issue I was also disappointed to be charged the full price of the children's menu for my one year old Grandson for a small plate of pasta! To be fair, the rest of our (non Gluten Free) party enjoyed our meal but our fine dining experience was very disappointing given that they were made aware that the birthday girl was Gluten Free and made very little effort to accommodate this, despite assuring me that this would not be problem, when the reservation was made over a month in advance. We had the eleven course taster menu and wine flight. We loved the around the World concept and the wine went perfectly with each course. The service was attentive and the food a delight.

We went out for a special meal prior to Christmas. It was our first visit but knew the chef from his previous restaurant. We were not disappointed with the food or the service. Very unique courses and which did not fail to deliver. The chef and the staff were very professional but also very friendly making the whole experience excellent.

We were honoured and lucky enough to be present at Johnny Stanford’s debut as Head Chef and go on his 9 course tasting journey at AG’s at Alexander House after much change during COVID. Fear not. The restaurant is in good hands. What an experience. Michelin standard. The humbly named snacks at the start made us sit up and listen - particularly the innocent looking cone of goats ‘cheese’ and truffle followed by the crab with crab jelly - understatements all! What an incredible blast of flavour! Then put away your prejudices about beetroot - I don’t want to give away the surprise just try it. Dish after beautiful dish served by the gentlemanly Zoltan. I’m going to say it: I had a best ever! The chocolate mousse. Of course it wasn’t just a chocolate mousse. But that’s for me to know and you to find out. I’m excited for you :)

Celebrated our Anniversary with a lovely meal and bottle of Champagne. The restaurant looks great and is in the lovely Alexander House.Food, service and setting were exceptional. It isn’t cheap though and would have loved a larger menu to selected from.

Booked the tasting menu with wine flight, for the price should have been amazing. Was below par as sommelier wasn't on hand to deliver tasting notes for each course, as I would have expected. Service in the bar beforehand was average at best, could be so much better.
