We have been to the black swan on a regular basis for many years. Over the past few months, saying it has gone down hill would be an understatement. This review details our experience tonight (Saturday 13th January). On arriving, dirty glasses piled up on the bar and numerous tables yet the venue was not busy. Poor service at the bar. Inconsistent pricing. The same round of drinks was charged at 3 different amounts and then the final round, changing an alcoholic drink to an “on tap” soft drink cost more than all the previous rounds. There was also no ice available. There are many other pubs available in the local area that could easily take the business if this place was to close.

This place stops serving guests at 10pm on 19 December 2023. Dreadful pub. Do not patronize this establishment.

Definitely gone downhill. Very busy which is great, but poorly staffed and bar staff very stressy shouting which table number when our table didn't have one - it had literally been removed from the table top.Food OK, drinks as expected.Very dark it feels- I get the atmospheric lighting, but was difficult to see what you're actually eating in the bar seating areas.Hopefully they'll bounce back.

Nice atmosphere, good service. Good draft beer. Sloppy chilli burger was very good. Steak and Ale pie was good. Turkey club sandwich was disappointing - mainly lettuce, turkey was like a sandwich filler with mayo not pieces of turkey meat.

As a local that’s been coming 7 years I’m so disappointed in the new management with the ques on drinks / food And general locals feed back The new manager has brought down the whole atmosphere in his rudeness And is a shame when we have had such a local social in your pub A smile and manners would go a long way Not to mention the way I’ve seen him treat his staff

Nice food and friendly staff. Not the quickest service but wasn't in a hurry so fine.Nice Sunday roast. Friendly staff again. Closes early on a Sunday now.

I don't like any of Woodhouse pubs as they don't take cash so I avoid them now but it was not my choice so we went.Food was ok to be fair. Tiny portion of chips in a small container and a lonely vegan burger on a plate for nearly £15. No attempt to hide the ocean of empty plate with a limp lettuce leaf.I honestly dont think it was any better than wetherspoons and a lot more expensive.

Met up with friends for lunch, lovely pub great atmosphere. The waiter was bubbly and very caring with disabled customers nothing was too much trouble for her. The food was very good with no complaints. Thank you we will return soon

Went with a friend for lunch and ordered a medium rare steak. When it arrived it was probably more rare or blue then it was medium rare but I didn’t complain as I normally like any steak and didn’t want to kick up a fuss. By the next night I had food poisoning with major stomach cramps and sickness. It certainly wasn’t from any other foods I had eaten due to the types of food I had before and after this. I had heard a few rumours food isn’t always stored properly and it’s not the cleanest of kitchens so I guess that answers why. It seems other reviews had complained about the food as well so something isn't right there. I had even spoken to a few people I know who said "the less said about there the better". Certainly won’t be going back. Front of house staff polite though.
