I often pop in here for a quick drink. I recommend the Silly Moo cider, locally brewed in Cowfold. Plenty of outdoor seating. Currently being refurbished but opening again for the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Cannot comment on the food but stopped in for a pint of cider. Lovely and warm atmosphere even though it did get very busy as a small pub. Definitely a locals pub as everyone seemed to know eachother. They served silly moo cider. Lack of parking so parked up the road further on. Open fires to keep you cosy and warm in the

We happened upon this place by accident, there's another pub within yards of the fox that we couldn't get into, it was pretty quiet, but the food was cooked there and totally fresh. Took a while but you don't mind if it's nice and it was, we were puzzled as to y it was quiet it's a must try

We booked lunch for 4 people last Wednesday ( 1st Nov) and had an email confirmation. When we arrived the pub was closed no lights on and so we had to find an alternative pub. They should have informed us by email if there was a problem! A notice on the door to explain the closure!!

I've been waiting ages to try this place and it was worth the wait. Lovely cozy pub very good food and plenty of good drinks. Will be returning.

Gorgeous pub on the hill below the village of West Hoathly, above Sharpthorne village. I've frequented here many times on my visits from London. Great cooking, amazing decor and a cute little garden terrace around the back with great views. This is my top favourite place to eat in the area, even with the Cat (the most popular in West Hoathly) included.

Was really looking forward to a nice meal with friends. There was just 4 of us. Firstly the table was so sticky we had to cover it with paper serviettes. All the tables were sticky so we didn’t move. We booked a table for 3.30pm but when we got there were told the kitchen closes at 4pm so we had to order quite quickly which we were ok with. We ordered drinks, 2 beers and 2 glasses of red wine. We were not asked if we wanted a bottle or a small or large glass. The beer arrived fine, the wine eventually came….in dirty gin glasses with lipstick marks. We said the glasses were dirty and they got taken away but I watched as the young girl wiped the glass with her t-shirt and came back. We said no….clean glasses please… we asked the girl very calmly if she was new here to give her the benefit of the doubt, she didn’t answer. The wine returned in two odd wine glasses. The wine was very nice. A young chap put the napkins on the table and gave cutlery to 3 of us. The napkins were damp! We got up and found some dry ones. Our meals arrived but not hot…the vegetarian meal was cold. When I said my meal was cold, I was asked what I wanted them to do about it? There was no apology. Well, could I have a hot one? It eventually came back hot but had obviously just gone into a microwave as all the same as when it went out. The gravy I asked for was an onion sauce but hey ho! The nutroast had Brazil nuts which tasted plastic. The vegetables were two bowls between the four of us but no serving spoons so we found a dessert spoon to use! The phone would ring right by us, my partner was up at the bar at that time and when answered the person on the other end was put on loud speaker and left on the bar top whilst the girl carried on pouring drinks….even through the poor soul on the other end had lost her purse and wondered if it was on top of the bar. The girl just looked at my partner and shrugged her shoulders…..no not here she said and carried on.. could you take my number and call me if it turns up? ….No need…got it. Bottles were thrown, crashing into a crate right by us giving us a shock each time! We ate up what we could and paid the £103 begrudgingly and left hastily to continue our evening elsewhere as it was such a disaster, sadly. Our friends were embarrassed as they had recommended going there. We certainly won’t be going back there though. We were the only customers in our part of the eating area, there is another area opposite but not sure anyone was there either so they were not busy but there didn’t seem to be anyone in charge, just run by 3 young people. We asked if the manager was there when we left but were told he had left.

A quiet little gem serving up some tasty food. The burger was really good and highly recommended, the triple fried chips were done just right. The scampi and chips too hit the mark, a place that serves a dressed salad!

We booked last minute for dinner and had a wonderful time! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the haunch of venison and my vegan treat was created with a welcoming sense of adventure and positivity from available ingredients! It included all my favourites from the menu and was fabulous! Dogs are welcome and atmosphere is very friendly. We’ll certainly come back!

Very slow service - had to ask for my pudding twice. Staff forgot to bring cutlery to multiple tables. Food and atmosphere (cat!!) are great so just needs some training for front of house

Nice pub, good food, good beer, staff polite and friendly but they certainly need training. Staff barely tended the tables. Lady near us waited and waited to pay and no one came to the table until I asked them too

Lovely little country pub with a nice interior. Unfortunately, the food was very inconsistent. We had the baked camembert. This was quite nice, I would have liked a bit more bread, but that's ok. The roast, however, was not so good. Very little meat on the plate and quite cold, vegetables came, and they seemed they were quickly microwaved. The red wine jus was quite sour and not very nice at all. Service was great and very nice people running the pub.

The evening was made special by the service of the exceptional bar staff....a young lady working on her own ....and doing a great job with a lovely sense of humour. Recommended.

Really need to improve on their service. Advertised breakfast but could not serve any and not mentioning that they are unable to serve breakfast, only after ordering coffee and helping ourselves to the menus did they mention they cannot help. They should have said upfront. Also the server was practically in another world, her mind was not at all at work, double charged for the coffee ordered. Place also looks unkept and needing a good clean.
