Clean friendly pub with great garden at the back to enjoy some of the first sun of the year. Near to a friends house and always happy to go

Thought we'd road test the new chef and menu last weekend. My wife's hake was beautiful, our son thought it was his birthday, with the size of the piece of gammon he was presented with. The burger, the best I've had in a long time. Great local beef, nice bacon and fantastic burger sauce. Everything home made with nice little touches.

I’ve now visited The New Inn 3 times in the past few months - twice for an incredible roast and today for lunch. The roast is hands down the best roast I’ve had in a restaurant! Really good portion sizes - We were so impressed with the variety of veg/sides - the potatoes were so crispy and yummy! We also got roast chicken nuggets (you HAVE to try them!!) and the cauliflower cheese was also amazing! For lunch I had fish and chips and mac and cheese bites with bacon Mayo to start - wow the mac and cheese bites were unreal! I’ve never tried anything like that before, but I will definitely be coming back for more!Would highly recommend a visit - really relaxed atmosphere, cosy and family friendly! I’ve taken my baby every time and the staff have always been very accommodating and helpful. Dog friendly too!

This pub used to be fantastic. Now the staff take ages to serve a drink, there never seems enough of them but then you look around & there’s 5 talking amongst themselves oblivious to the waiting customers. No wonder the new pub across the road is packed out & raking it in. Murray, SORT IT OUT. We know you don’t give a monkeys, but it’s rubbed off on your staff & it’s RUBBISH!!

What a lovely welcoming pub. The chef had changed recently and we wanted to try it. The food was amazing! I had fish and chips - the fish (as all ingredients I was told) was bought that day and was beautifully white and soft. Best triple cooked chips ever! My grown up daughter had the salmon with a crab croquette - which we all tried and agreed this was the star of the show - and my husband who had eaten earlier in the day had the charcuterie board - which was filled to the brim! I had the chocolate marquis with cream for pudding which was excellent and my daughter and husband had cheese and biscuits - which wasn’t on the menu but the waitress managed to rustle up for us. Chatted to some lovely people whilst there and overall a good night ?

Love this pub!! We drive up from Lewes at least twice a month, the food is brilliant, service is great and the atmosphere is cosy and warm ?

My business colleague and I had a decent lunch here and it is a nice place. Everything was fine and the staff were attentive until two unexpected things happened at the end of our meal - so that's 1* docked for each thing! The pub was pretty much empty and we had unfinished drinks BUT the waiter came up and said to us 'Do you want anything else or shall I get your bill NOW?!' - rather 'pushy' but no big deal (maybe) UNTIL within 5 minutes the waitress came up and said 'Will you pay now'!So I paid in cash but we were still drinking when the waiter came back with £2.40 in change and said 'Do you want this (change)?'!Well considering a 10% service charge had already been included in the bill which I had paid (£3.40) for not a lot of service really I was shocked, and just said 'Yes'!In summary, a nice place and decent food BUT shame about the waiting staff!!

Really lovely dining and drinking experience but falling short on good food options for vegetarians (went on a weeknight).

Lovely pub and friendly staff, but food v disappointing, My steak was meant to be medium rare, came out well done and the ‘béarnaise’ sauce was served in a gravy jug and had the consistency of water. Not someone who would complain normally and I felt bad as our waiter had been great. Sent back and politely asked for thicker sauce and it came back the same. Would recommend changing chefs. Such a shame as lovely pub in such a picturesque village.

Attended a small private gathering here recently. This was in a pleasant rear room where a simple but tasty buffet was laid out. Hot drinks were available on the bar and service of drinks from the bar was swift and attentive. They looked after us well.
