Lunch today was a mistake. Sussex Smokie little fish, mostly spinach, which made the sauce very watery, ittle cheese - small portions. Ugh! How the mighty have fallen From Michelin Star to this! I understand most of Elvita's staff have left

Visiting the restaurant for the first time we were welcomed with open arms. The bar man was knowledgeable and friendly willing to make recommendations and even allow a taster of some drinks before buying. Our dinner orders were taken before we went through to the restaurant. We went through and were seated. The service was first class, starters and dinner served without even so much as “who ordered what?”. Our meals were correctly laid out in front of us and the food matched service. First class in every respect. This jewel of a restaurant has limited opening times and maybe that’s the secret to its great service and food.

Before the first lockdown, Café Elvira was lovely, welcoming and had a small menu but with an option for everyone. Having been back today, I am disappointed. No vegan options. One vegetarian option and that was on the specials list. I'm surprised they had a milk alternative for my tea. We also felt rather rushed by our waiter. Such a shame Elvira is no longer that place that it was. (The dry baguette that I did end up with however was yummy, just insufficient.)

Elvira's Brasserie at Jeremy's - reopened in October 2021 with amazing food by Jeremy - an outstanding brasserie style menu elevated by Jeremy to an exceptional meal - seasonal, delicious food and high standard friendly service, can't be beaten

We booked this lovely place for a friend’s birthday, a walk around the stunning gardens followed by proper afternoon tea at Cafe Elvira. None of us had been before and we all loved it. The tea itself was imaginative, totally delicious and beautifully presented. The pastry chef came over and explained everything ( to our shame, we had only that morning remembered to tell him we were vegetarian, but he accommodated us beautifully despite that!). The staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly, the table and crockery looked lovely and we couldn’t have had a better day. Thank you so much to all the staff. We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. We hope to be back for the next significant birthday!

Lovely Sunday lunch. Sat outside in the sun and the only downside was a few annoying flies drawn by the delicious aromas. Wine was lovely, reminded us of an NZ holiday. Good service and very nice food.

Had a lovely meal there last night with family. . Really good food with excelent welcoming service from all the staff . The service was very prompt without the need to ask and without being over bearing. The excelent food came at just the right pace, we didn’t feel rushed at all.

The staff at Jeremy’s make a visit a memorable occasion. We counted 7 people with whom we had contact from entry to exit after the meal and all of them were super friendly, entertaining, humorous and above all, totally professional. It takes a well motivated and driven team to make hospitality seem natural and easy and Jeremy’s pulled it off! The food was excellent with plenty of choices and prices on the menu. We enjoyed a good bottle of albariño with the food and a couple of Manzanillas to sharpen our palates preprandially. Overall a superb meal and worth a return visit soon.

Popped in here after a visit to Borde Hill gardens. Waited a while to be served but they were busy. Friendly staff and there cream tea was extremely good value for £6.00 per person. Sat in the gardens with the dogs and enjoyed the sunshine. Think it was the owner, lovely lady who gave the dogs some treats and passed the time of day.

We were brought here by friends in August 2021 having previously cancelled an anticipated visit because of lockdown. It was well worth the wait as it was the best meal we have had anywhere for a couple of years. We enjoyed pre-prandials (3 Negronis and 1 Bucks Sunrise) and an amuse bouche was brought while we waited for the starters - 2 Burratas, 1 Squid and 1 Gazpacho. There were two meat main courses, Lamb, and two fish, Cod and John Dory, all beautifully prepared and presented, as were the desserts - Cheesecakes, Mousse and an Apricot confection. With one carafe of Saumur Champigny and a carafe and glass of Treixadura Expresion, and 2 bottles of water the bill came to £313.88 including a 12.5% gratuity. The room, service and other facilities were impeccable.
