Only had lunch meeting 2 friends. Food from a limited menu is excellent and served in a friendly and happy manner. We were lucky with the weather, hot and sunny amongst all these rainy days. Also the Angel has a lovely garden to drink or dine in. A small car park helps. Definitely worth a visit.

We popped in for lunch on my birthday and had a fantastic experience. A beautiful pub with wonderful service - lemon water brought over immediately without asking, prompt and friendly waiters! But the star of the show was the food, it was incredible. My fiancee had the steak which melted in his mouth, and I had the small fish & chips. Mine was DELICIOUS, a light batter with white flakey fish, and the most incredible chips. Excellent value for such high quality. Thank you so much, we will definitely be back!

A very nice place to meet friends. Very good beer. Great service.

Amazing place, quite possibly the best fish and chips I’ve ever experienced. The batter was sublime but the real star of the show were the mushy peas. I’ve never had mushy peas that good. Staff were also extremely attentive and the decor / vibe was perfect. A must visit if you’re in the area

Only visited the pub for food (which was delicious!) - didn't stay at the hotel. Had the butternut, tomato and feta pasta and it was honestly wonderful! Would come back again just for more of that!

Lovely pub. Stayed for a weekend and had one dinner there. Great food, but the pub itself was cold inside and by the time we ate at 8pm, was emptying out so lacked a little atmosphere. Rooms are nicely done with lots of character (and were nicely warm!), however our room at the front of the pub was very noisy from both the pub (early in the morning from the staff) and the road outside. Final mention to some very friendly, helpful staff. Thank you.Walkability: Petworth has lots to explore but is small so everything is on the doorstep of the pub.

Nice meal, staff were attentive. Pub lacked atmosphere and was cold where we were sat.

My partner and I visited for lunch on a cold winter's day, accompanied by our dog. We were all made very welcome. The staff were informal yet attentive. Service was timely. The food (squid, soup, venison pies) was excellent. Only downsides: it could have been warmer (even though we sat next to the one functioning radiator); whilst tables were assiduously cleaned, the floor looked as though it could do with a deep clean. We will happily return - probably on a warmer day . . .

If you offer just one vegetarian option on your menu then at least make it better than a pasta dish with tomatoes and feta.Would it kill you to offer a veg option for a Sunday roast?Inflexible service unwilling to swap the mandatory starter for a side of vegetables with a poor excuse about not being 'able'.Diet coke was flat, sent it back to be replaced with yet more flat diet coke. Our party spent £230+ for our meal and it was a disappointing experience.Food & drinks: If you offer just one vegetarian option on your menu then at least make it better than a pasta dish with tomatoes and feta.Would it kill you to offer a veg option for a Sunday roast?Inflexible service unwilling to swap the mandatory starter for a side of vegetables with a poor excuse about not being 'able'.Diet coke was flat, sent it back to be replaced with yet more flat diet coke. Our party spent £230+ for our meal and it was a disappointing experience.

That was probably the best burger I have ever eaten.
