Basmati Indian Restaurant Petworth
Swan House Cellars, Market Square, PetworthLovely restaurant. Indian food was much better than anything I have found home in London. The owner was so kind and attentive and the food was incredible. Could not recommend more ! Particularly impressed with the bhaji, butter chicken and daal, but you can’t go wrong with any of the dishes.

The Stag Inn
Kirdford Rd, Balls Cross, PetworthYour true English country pub… not too fancy and wonderfully authentic!Had a great lunch there today, good food, lovely staff and great ambience, what’s not to like!We also loved the fact that they had sandwiches available at lunchtimes, if that’s what you fancy as opposed to a full meal, although the sandwiches were hearty too… desserts were delicious and just the right sized serving… ???Thank you again, we will be back for sure, and thank you for laughing with us!! ?

The Black Horse Inn
A283, Byworth, PetworthA really lovely, local country pub in a very picturesque village. We went for lunch after visiting Petworth house which is only 2 mins away. The weather was cold so we had a lovely table by the log fire. It’s obviously popular with the locals so has a great atmosphere, the food was really great, definitely recommend the steak and mushroom pie, and the service excellent. It has a large garden at the back and great views so we will definitely be returning in the summer!

The Three Moles
Selham, PetworthWhat a fantastic classic county pub! Tom's Sunday Roast is superb and the service spot on. Ollie and Tom are quite simply the nicest guys you could wish to meet, hugely welcoming and personable and seem to find time for everyone. They have created a pub which is the beating heart of the village with a great community feel, and continue to welcome everyone that walks through the door in equal measure. They have put a huge amount effort into the pub and are quite exceptional at what they do. The pub has a great mix of friendly people together with excellent food and drinks.A super sociable and enjoyable place to be - dogs included!Love this pub!

Petworth House Audit Room café
Church St, PetworthNice place for a cuppa and chat with family/friends. Gluten free cakes available and decaff coffee and soya milk. Such a grand room to have a cafe.Only tip would be to get a large size drink as the regular size cup is not that big. Think it was only 35p extra to go large. You can also go here without being NT member. Will definitely return again.

The Star
Market Square, PetworthSuperb. Nice choice of beers, good food, and terrific service. We called for a late lunch just before the kitchen shut expecting to be turned away but a very friendly landlady was only too pleased to seat and serve us. The burgers were thick and delicious, the fish and chips huge and the gammon thick and tasty. Definitely worth the visit.

The Angel Inn
1 Angel St, PetworthAmazing place, quite possibly the best fish and chips I’ve ever experienced. The batter was sublime but the real star of the show were the mushy peas. I’ve never had mushy peas that good. Staff were also extremely attentive and the decor / vibe was perfect. A must visit if you’re in the area

The Hungry Guest Cafe
Newlands House Gallery, Pound St, PetworthWe always stop here for a couple of sandwiches and a drink after a long walk at Petworth Park. Staff are welcoming and always friendly, lovely cosy atmosphere. The Croque Monsieur is our favourite bite, oozing with melty cheese and thick cut ham - delish!

Cherry's Deli & Bakery
Golden Square, PetworthWe visited this cafe after a muddy walk around Petworth House and wish to provide a very positive review. 1. The food. I enjoyed a good size bowl of soup and croutons both homemade and a slab of granary bread, which was well priced. My husband had a beef, rocket and horseradish sauce sandwich, which at first seemed expensive but on arrival include a large salad garnish and crisps. 2. The tables were cleared promptly and cleaned off with antibac spray. Other diners were clearly enjoying the quiches and sausage rolls. We would recommend it.
