A group of us went to The Gun Inn for the first time for my birthday. All the communication about the booking was great and so was pre-ordering food. It was a classic rainy Sunday but that didn't detract from how lovely the pub was nor how friendly the staff were. We had a super time and would all go back!

Strange attitude with table booking… wouldn’t allow me to book a table because i was waiting to see if an extra person would join. They advised me to wait until I had confirmation, in case someone else wanted the table I wanted to reserve, whilst assuring me they had plenty of tables. Then when I tried to book the day after the member of staff informed me they were fully booked up “you should probably book a week in advance in future.”If the tables go that easily, what was the issue with me booking in the first place?

We came here as a party of 5 to get some lunch on the Friday before the new year (so late December some time!). The pub itself is beautiful and is a real cosy winter pub with open fires and lovely interior. We loved the vintage theme. The waitress was fantastic and very attentive, allowing us to have a tab and bringing drinks over to our table. The menu offered some typical pub classics and some more up market proper winter dinners. The prices were reasonable for what was served. The Guinness flowed (unfortunately for my dad who paid) and was a gorgeous pint which, for Guinness drinkers, know how important that is!! (The pint is pictured for you lovers). For starters, they gave us a huge bread platter and all of the starters were fantastic- the loaded chips were a highlight. We ordered the chorizo loaded chips, break platter, and the potato dish which name I can’t remember. Many of us then had their specials menu alpine burger with my sister having the venison (all pictured). A lovely afternoon for my mums birthday lunch and the service and experience was great. The only thing I’d criticise is the vintage style phone they had was slightly annoying and didn’t stop ringing!! But I don’t blame them as it was busy and obviously people are desperate to come to this pub! Will definitely come again and my family have already planned to come here in December next year as a lovely winter treat.
