One of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had in year - beautifully cooked, flavoured and presented. Also plenty of options for my child who we sometimes struggle to find gluten-free options for. We will definitely return.

Four of us went to the white horse in Thornton for sunday lunch today we all had a starter which were delicious then 3 had the beef sunday roast and 1 the turkey all served with lovely roast pots and vegetables with lots of lovely gravy we all enjoyed it very much will definitely be back. If anything on a downside the service was a bit slow.

I was served a burger with the top of the brioche bun soaked in grease, soggy and inedible but as the rest of the burger was OK just put the top to one side, continued to eat, informed the waitress but declined a new meal as everything else was fine. Spoke to the manager after the meal to say the top bun was greasy and inedible and he said it was because the bun steamed. How does that make it greasy? After a further complaint the manager informed us this is how the chef wants the burgers to be served. This is our local restaurant but will not be going again unless they have a change of chef/attitude. The waiting staff were excellent and seemed embarrassed by the food.

This was a great venue to meet up with family. We haven’t seen for ages. It’s kind of our local and on our doorstep. The food is always nice, especially the garlic mushrooms, which is must try there’s no other starter I would have. Great to have a small portion or a large portion. If the main menu, beer and wine all is good staff really friendly would definitely recommend this place to couples family or just get together with friends.

A lovely old pub style restaurant. Very relaxed atmosphere and staff friendly and efficient. The food we had was delicious and I love the option of small or large portions as I’m not a big eater. Good value for money.

We had an enjoyable time and the food was excellant. Best steak and oxtail pie I've had in years. Service friendly, attentive but unobtrusive. Good atmosphere

We visited for Sunday lunch yesterday . We had 2 soft drinks and 2 main courses only. The Sunday lunch was OK, lots of meat but roast potatoes tasted as if they had just been warmed up and the Yorkshire was just air with no substance about it at all and no taste. However our problem was around the service. There were other tables still eating and it wasn't late at all. After our meal we still had drinks we wanted to drink the bill was brought and 3 times different waitresses came to pick up our glasses with drinks still in. However when we sent cash with the bill to pay. The bill was £42 and £50 was given the waitress came back and asked how much change did we want back. We always leave a tip but we felt quite pressurised to leave it all and should not be placed in a position to do so by asking if we wanted the change back. We were not happy at all. We felt the staff were very keen for us to leave and felt so uncomfortable. We usually love this place living nearby too but it's left us hesitant to return. If this is usual practice when paying cash it definitely needs to be changed.

My friend & I often call in here after our walking trips. The food is always delicious, the staff are lovely & we love it! Highly recommend the pork chop (it's my absolute favourite) & I've just sampled the Sunday dinner for the first time & I actually drank the last bit of gravy from my jug as it was THAT good! ❤️

We arrived after 2pm and the restaurant was busy. We were however quickly shown to a table by the very friendly barman. Good drinks available, especially the Timothy Taylor’s blond. Tasting haddock goujons and salt & pepper prawns. Followed by amazing steak and ox pie ( a real pie ) with very tasty gravy and vegetables also a very tasty pork loin. Shared crumble to finish. Overall an excellent all served by happy friendly staff. PS the views from here are fabulous.

Shocking. Saturday night no one in. Sad to see the once vibrant pub like this .

Just eaten at the White Horse. Food was very good but for the price the place was shabby. Someone needs to go round with a snag list. It wouldn’t cost much, just attention to detail. Lamps in the windows not working, candles on the tables not lit/ burnt out, three lights in the ladies not working, it was like the black hole of Calcutta!. Come on ! Its supposed to be a pleasant experience. Just look round. Staff very friendly and attentive I have to say.
