Lovely place, absolutely beautiful venue and groundsRooms were nice but nothing special, great beds, but low ceiling (sloping roof) had to open the window so i didn't hit my head. Most of the staff were fantastic, polite, friendly and happy to help, a certain one with a little authority did not fit the standards set by their underlings. All in all, great place for a wedding party :)

Great wedding venue, mind all the up and down steps all over. Very quaint, clean and friendly. Make sure you say hey to Eric the resident cat, he loves a tickle or strokeRooms: Enabled room great. Shame you have to go outside to get inside if you have a wheelchaur/walker or crutches. Luckily it didn't rain.

Absolutely brilliant stay with dinner and breakfast! My sister and I came for our birthday celebrations. The room was stunning, very clean and modern. We had an amazing 3 course dinner. Gardens are beautiful and it was great weather for us to sit and have a drink in the wonderfully landscaped garden. Yorkshire breakfast was great! Will definitely be back again! Thanks for making our weekend!

From our first meeting in July 2022 with Amanda to the day of our wedding on 30th August 2023 nothing was too much trouble for the staff of this fabulous hotel. The wonderful Tracy took over the day along with myself and my husband (which was much needed) We had a small wedding and choose to have the afternoon tea which everyone said was a great idea. In the evening the staff rolled the carpets back and put music on, which we hadn't planned on doing as there was only a few elderly guests but wow everyone was on there feet. It was a truly magical day/evening, many many thanks to ALL staff that made our day so special. We will certainly be back ?

I stayed here for 4 nights and had a wonderful experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the hotel was absolutely beautiful. I loved the room I stayed in, which was spacious and well-appointed. The restaurant was also excellent, with a delicious menu and a great selection of wines. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing stay.

I stayed there 6 months while on business in Halifax in the mid 90's and I still remember it! It was a great place then with great food and very atmospheric lounges and from the other comments it still a great place now!Keep up the good work! Next time I'm in Halifax this is where I will be staying!

I was invited to send in a playlist for guests to listen to before the wedding. I spent ages putting together 30 mins of music culminating in our sentimental songs. On the day, a young lad tried to put this on, having to climb thro bushes to get an internet connection but this was only 5 mins before the actual service (I was by this time quite nervous and hadn't realised the music wasn't being played). In the end I don;t think even one song was played in it entirety. I took staff up on the offer to take my clothes from the changing room back to my bedroom... after the ceremony we arrived back in our suite to find my clothes dumped on the floor. A member of staff offered to put out the favours on the table for me and left out one guest completely despite me giving her a plan. We'd ordered three separate cakes (due to dietary requirements) and I emailed a few days before to ask the loan of two plates along side the cake stand. Only one cake was put out, in fact I never even saw the other two and got no photos of them. One we concluded didn't even make it out of their fridge. Overall we were very disappointed.

I booked this weekend for our Wedding Anniversary. We were blessed with fabulous weather. The hotel is located in Calderdale just outside Halifax. The house is Grade II listed and dates back to 1633. It is absolutely picture post card beautifully set in the most amazing grounds, all perfectly manicured. Over the years it has hosted the likes of the Beatles, Cliff Richard, Jamie Oliver etc and has also been used for TV programme's like La Tango in Halifax, Happy Valley, Gentleman Jack and many others. We chose the hotel because it is very dog friendly. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, great northern hospitality. We booked on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. Our room was a lovely duplex suite, with TV lounge and the bedroom. The room had great amenities - Nespresso machine, tea, coffee and biscuits and the toiletries by the White Company. The Dining room and bar are great food and beverage havens with a fabulous selection of Gin's. The bar leads out onto the beautiful gardens where we relaxed in the sun and sipped or Aperol Spritz. Dinner has a great selection of locally produced foods, with dishes creatively designed by head chef Adam Harvey and his team. Front of house was meticulously run by the exceptionally friendly and professional Anthony and his team.

Fantastic historical hotel with excellent service from every member of staff. Had the 8 course tasting menu which was wonderful and stayed over in an upgraded suite which with breakfast made it perfect.

Attended a lovely wedding here, currently in a wheelchair as broken my ankle so rang hotel & they said they’d book me in to their wheelchair friendly room which was fine, but the rest of the hotel isn’t equipped for people in wheelchairs, every room we had to go in bar, breakfast room and ceremony room all have stairs and no ramps to help so my husband had to get help to get me in and out so once in room unable to get to the loo! Also next morning unable to go for breakfast as no way could you get down the stairs into room!! Hotel absolutely lovely but please think of people who need help ie: get so ramps etc…

We & all the family/friends enjoyed our stay on the 5-7 August. We started with a 60th birthday celebration afternoon tea for one of our guests, which coincided with the hotel owners' 60th celebration year too. We had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon tea, drinks in the bar & dinner in the restaurant later that evening. Also, breakfast the following morning. Staff were very obliging & friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are well appointed & decorated with comfy beds. We will certainly return

We last stayed here in , 1983 on our wedding night and now 40 years later wished to return! The hotel is in a delightful setting despite the new surrounding homes that have sprung up around the grounds. The hotel dates from the 17th century but has all the modern facilities of a modern hotel Staff were really friendly and went out of their way to please guests. Our stay was for 2 nights, eating in the restaurant on the first evening. The meal was excellent and can be highly recommended. We hope to return in the future.

Had an incredible stay here with my partner. Nothing too much trouble, enjoyed evening drinks in the garden. Truly a romantic place. Everything was to an excellent standard, would absolutely recommend!

Dinner here was good. Pre dinner drinks in the beautiful garden were a highlight. The food was good and the dining room very cosy. There was a wedding and evening reception while we were the, and I felt a little like an intruder.

I hadn't been able to take my Mum away on holiday since before Covid. We wanted somewhere we could just relax and rest because she's been so poorly over the last couple of years. Our room (an executive suite) was spacious with a comfy bed, sofa bed and gorgeous bathroom, with a good sized wardrobe and huge TV. All the staff from reception, breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner are welcoming and friendly. We had dinner in the restaurant for the three nights we stayed. The food and wine is delicious. We especially enjoyed chatting to Jordan and Sophie, they were really nice to us and great at their jobs. Jordan kept us laughing a lot. The housekeeping staff were lovely whenever we passed them in the corridor. They cleaned our room everyday, even on Tuesday when we didn't leave our room til our Afternoon Tea in the restaurant. They must have noticed we'd left and it was finished by the time we got back. We did venture out on the Wednesday. We went to The Piece Hall and town centre (about 10 minutes in a taxi) but if you're looking for a restful stay in a lovely hotel with beautiful surroundings (the gardens are stunning), I'd highly recommend here. We hope to return next year.
