Great modern bar. It has about 8 cask ales, all well kept and about a dozen or so keg beers.Nice warm place with a good atmosphere.It's also near to the theatre and is great for a pre or post performance drink.It does food in the way of pizzas etc but I can't comment on the price or quality.

What a quality pub! Extensive list of keg and cask and bottles too! Lovely staff. Brilliant selection of pork pies. And the pub itself is a gem. A great pub in a town that has been redeveloped since I was last here some 20 years ago.

My favourite craft/real ale bar in Halifax.A huge choice of craft beers, all listed on a blackboard with the brewery name and percentage.Knowledgeable friedly staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere.Great pork pies of various flavours, to go with the ale.Cheers

Great choice of beer and lovely atmosphere. Nice toilets. Can get busy and cramped so you sometimes have to push your way past in tight spaces, which with a drink is interesting!

It’s an iconic ale house of Halifax with a unique interior and substantial beer choice. If you’re on the ale trail in Halifax it’s a must. Quite often we’ll finish here for a fine array of beer.

A delicious wee pub on a quiet street full of period features and a glorious selection of ales and beers. Not a stop for any lager fans. Really impressed by the care of the staff to present well conditioned beer and was clearly popular with the locals. If I lived in Halifax, it would probably be my local. Banging.

This seems to have an accessible symbol. However the toilets are most definitely NOT accessible by anyone disabled. I certainly could not access the toilets although the barman did open a side door for us! Nice beer.

Such an unusual fusion of coffee shop and craft ales with comfy seating in in lots of small'ish areas. Beers kept well. Great pork pie and crisp choices.Definitely coming back when I return to the area.

Really good bar, decor and furniture overall feel Victorian era, lots of light entry and quirky level changes, larger space for groups and cozy areas for couples. Beers absolutely brilliant on tap and bottles, Westmalle with a proper trappist glass appreciated, prosecco, coffees, tea, pies available, reasonably priced. Staff amazing, they really make this place feel welcome to customers. ?Update ......further visits here, just really gets better, such wonderful knowledgeable friendly staff, bonus pearl jam soundtrack ? there are not many places like this in the north, keep this establishment going ? yes true you won't find £2

I love this place. It is very rustic with old meets new, making it very cosy. It always has a very nice atmosphere that I find very calming even when the place is busy. The beer options are fabulous and way better than any other pub in and around halifax. You can even have a game of scrabble or chess if that takes your fancy. Highly recommend
