A lovely old style yet quirky pub. Full of character and from our experience,a very popular place for a Friday night pint. There is an open fire and as many seats as can be fit in. A pool table and music. Dogs are welcome and this definitely added to the great atmosphere. I really enjoyed our visit.

Still as good as it's always been with a good mix of people. Definitely a drinkers pub. I remember meeting my wife here on a blond date. Over 35yeaes later it is still a pub with charm and a special sort of rustic char. Maybe not a place to have a date but I would have to disagree, it's the people you are with, not the venue.Go there and enjoy yourself/best with rustic charm.The bedrooms are small but the sound of the river below is nothing but relaxing and wonderful representation of the idyllic countryside.Nearby activities: Holmfirth has it's own wonderful peaceful countryside atmosphere.Food & drinks: Lots of charming bars, restaurants and local retail units.

Had a lovely visit until we were accused of not paying for our drinks about 10 minutes after leaving the bar and heading for some seats. When I showed the bar man my banking app with the evidence of our payment he continued to intimate that I hadn't paid but he said the manager said it was ok so he wouldn't take it further. I shall not be going back!
