The staff were rude and scruffy looking. We were over charged for our food (which isn’t what it used to be) and they refused to alter the bill when we queried it. The beer was flat so we opted for a bottle of wine instead which was awful and they just handed the bottle over with no ice bucket to keep it chilled. We shall not be going back again my lovely’s.

Unfortunately the Sunday staff were the opposite to the weekday staff. One came across as rude and abrupt, the other two were miserable although polite when spoken to. Would not go back for Sunday lunch, would go during the week though as food is lovely.

Well it was my first time visit with the wife and mother in law and I must admit I was not impressed with the place to say it's a nostalgic kitchen I did not see much on the menu to warrant that I had a beef sandwich with chips and coleslaw the beef was tasteless deffo did not taste like proper beef the chips were more like roast potatoes cut in half then fried but the coleslaw was spot on also ordered cheese and mushroom omelette not much cheese in it and also corned beef pie that looked well not good what's with the mashed potatoes on the top then pastry that did not look homemade on the top of the potatoes what's wrong with just normal food with places now trying to be up there but not getting there sorry if my opinion does not go down well but it's mine and mine alone my first and last time but others my like it but not for me

My friends and I went for our annual xmas dinner. Last year, it couldn't be faulted, this year it was very different. Starters were fine. Main course was stated as xmas dinner with all the trimmings. This consisted of three slices of turkey, a tiny square piece of stuffing, one pig in a blanket, a Yorkshire pudding, mashed potato and 3 roast potatoes and two vegetables, carrots and sprouts. We asked for more carrots as there wasn't enough to go round the party, they never arrived. There were no parsnips, which surely should be a minimum for a xmas dinner, and I have never had a Yorkshire pudding on a Xmas dinner before. The waitress brought some xmas crackers when we almost through our main course. The desserts were fine. Everything was piping hot so no complaints there. For thirty pounds each it was a very poor xmas meal. No coffee and mints were included in the price. We went to lupset hotel a few days before and had wonderful xmas meal for sixteen pounds each.

Simple home cooked food done to an extremely high standard. Comfort food never tasted so good.Friendly and pleasant waitresses dealt with our every need with a smile on their faces. The chef came out into the dining room to check how the guests were enjoying the food and, without exception, got a huge thumbs up ? from every diner.Get yourself down here and pick anything from the menu or specials board and I am confident saying that you'll love it.

Lovely, traditional home cooked food. I was very happy to see a separate gluten free section on the menu which offered plenty of choice. I was thrilled to have a gluten free Yorkshire pudding but even more so that it was actually a good one. Michael, the chef, came out of the kitchen and spoke to all the diners in turn, asking if everything was okay and if we had everything we needed. What a lovely personal touch.

Great food and great, friendly service. Consistently the best belly pork I’ve ever had. Chicken tikka bites outstanding - real meat, none of your breaded, processed rubbish. Lovely veg and lashings of gravy. It’s why we keep coming back!
