During the booking process it does not stipulate that you need to book 24hours in advance for the restaurant to provide afternoon tea. As a result when we arrived we were informed that we would not be able have this option which ended up being a wasted journey!

A friend and I had dinner here on Saturday. The staff were welcoming and friendly, the restaurant was decorated lovely and with great views of the countryside. We had the belly pork and the time taken for it to be served was perfect - not too quick or slow. It was extremely tasty. We’ll be sure to visit again soon!

We walked here from Cow & Calf rocks. The views up here are stunning, such a shame it was raining as we wanted to sit outside, but we can't wait to come back when the sunshine returns. Good selection on the menu. We went for the Pork belly and it was cooked beautifully, really tasty and the presentation looked fantastic. It was quiet but it meant we could speak a bit more freely as no one was within earshot. Can't wait to return.

We came for the advertised Mother’s Day afternoon tea today and we left feeling pretty underwhelmed which was disappointing especially as it was a treat for my mum. Positive things - We were given a warm welcome by the lady at the bar and the restaurant decor is lovely as was the view across the valley from our table in the window. Not so good things - Once sat at our table, we were left with no drinks menu or any information about the afternoon tea for a good 10 minutes. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy so the slow service surprised me. When the waiter came he asked what we wanted to drink but as no one had given us a menu, we didn’t know what was available. He came back with 1 drinks menu when asked. We ordered tea & Prosecco & juice & they arrived quickly but no food menus were offered. After a further 10 minutes (& our tea going cold) we had to ask about afternoon tea which then arrived with no explanation as to what the cakes were but more importantly, the waitress didn’t ask if any of the party had allergies. Given that at least 2 of the cakes had nuts in them, this could have been a dangerous oversight especially when no written menu had been provided. Your waiting-on staff must ask about allergies. We had ordered 2 afternoon teas & I was told on the phone that we could order some extra food for my daughter but as no food menu was provided, we had to guess as to what extras we could order. I’ve never been to a restaurant before where food & drinks menus aren’t provided. The afternoon tea itself was disappointing. 6 small sandwiches for 2 people (& no option to ask to have different fillings when one of the party doesn’t eat fish), 1 small slice of sausage roll each, a selection of very small cakes & 2 scones for 2 people. I think it’s the only afternoon tea I’ve had where I’ve come away still hungry (usually 2 scones per person & an additional savoury is provided). The waitress that served us for the majority of the time didn’t smile once, barely spoke & didn’t make eye contact. We had to make a real effort to get noticed by anyone in order to get a fresh pot of tea & to ask to order food for my daughter. I’m not sure what the issue is with the restaurant. It has the potential to be so much better than it is. I assume that under-staffing is an issue but it also seems that management need to train staff better in customer service & in important areas including health & safety with regards to allergies.

We arrive at the luxury retirement village and was little confused as it's not clear where you park or that you are even at the right place. You have to go through the pool area and through the halls to get to it and there's not the best signage. We established how to get there after asking but once we did we were glad we found the place. We were sat at a comfortable table and had a really friendly server, we went for the afternoon tea and it was delicious. The star of the show was the sausage roll with the caramelized onion topper and the wide selection of puddings. We left full and happy.

Went to this "restaurant" as a birthday treat from relatives. The place was virtually empty. Christmas music played in the background. The staff were friendly and polite but the food fare was really not of an acceptable standard. The sandwiches were a miscellany of thrown together meats and fish. No vegetarian options. The bread was dry and stale with a smearing of butter/margarine or mustard. The small cakes that accompanied the sandwiches were cold and appeared to have just been taken out of a freezer or very cold fridge. They were consequently not eaten. We ended up leaning the majority of the food and left having been there just over half an hour. We found the whole experience unacceptable.

A small group of us(16) had afternoon tea in the restaurant recently. All cakes, sandwiches and homemade sausage rolls absolutely delicious and staff were very pleasant and attentive. They also accomodated gluten free and vegetarian requirements. Will definitely go again.

This was an excellent experience in every respect. Gillian and Kevin were very helpful at the planning stage and in proposing alternative menus. The smaller dining room was beautifully prepared with comfortable and well separated tables, including attractive flower table decorations.. Guests were greeted with welcome drinks and then served appetising canapés of caramelised onion tarts with blue cheese crumble, country terrine with piccalilli & mustard frill and homemade sausage roll portions with honey mustard. They were delicious to taste and attractive to the eye. Guests really enjoyed mingling on the outside terrace with lovely views over open country to Otley Chevin as they enjoyed their appetisers and drinks. For the meal itself, organised in buffet style, we selected chicken Saltimbocca accompanied by potatoes gratin, green beans alaminde and ceaser salad also accompanied by a side of herb roasted salmon filet with chive. Again, each of these dishes was very attractively presented, were at the correct temperature and were delicious to taste. We would thoroughly recommend this menu and congratulate the chef and kitchen staff on their skill in preparing it. The desserts were equally good. I thoroughly enjoyed both a chocolate terrine with raspberries compote and some seasonal fruit salad with lavender syrup. Even the coffee was better than usual and we were not disappointed with the wines served with the meal. Service was professional and friendly and we all had the impression that the manager and restaurant staff were willing to assist in every possible way to provide our party with an enjoyable and memorable experience. They certainly succeeded in doing so! Our guests were highly complimentary and it confirmed our own view that while there are many excellent eateries in Ilkley there is no other venue that can offer, for an occasion such as this, such a stylish ambience, privacy and the ability to customise a menu suited to the occasion with skilful guidance from experienced staff.

Great experience all round with our afternoon tea for our wedding anniversary in this restaurant. Very quiet but it had a lovely ambience with music playing. The afternoon tea was delicious with nice sandwiches, mini cakes and lovely moist fresh scones. This place has outside seating which will be lovely in the better weather with amazing views. Price was very reasonable too.
