We were so disappointed - the food was not special and the restaurant was lacking in atmosphere. The room temp was too low, the lights were too bright and the decor was just plain. The food was just ... ordinary and didn't justify the price tag. I don't know if we caught it on a bad night but I doubt if we'll go back - there are much better options in Ilkley

Not entirely sure I know what this restaurant is trying to be in terms of the food offerings. The menu is very confusing. The prices were very hard to read due to the font size and colour of text. Took over half an hour for the food to arrive. Everything, including the chips, was so salty that it was unpleasant to eat. I would not go back there if it stays as it is.Vegetarian options: Didn't have one

Host has rebranded to Joel’s. I don’t know why Tripadvisor hasn’t been updated yet. Our family of four had lunch at Joel’s - solid ‘Asian street food’ cooked authentically. Really great addition to the area. Great kids menu. Exceeded our expectations

The restaurant and menu all look all very promising hence we walked in. The service was extremely slow but we were here for the food. The fried chicken wings were good quality chicken and nice size but the batter was non descriptive and a brown sauce was added which came from some packaged. Now i don't mind if Im paying takeaway prices from a fried chicken shop but not at these prices. The cauliflower was in a non descriptive curried sauce - again most Indian takeaways do a better job. The main course bowl of japanese rice ( large amount ) with 3 pieces of succulent chicken ( actually good). Best bit were the pickled onions. Again it was okay but not at these prices. I don't usually like to be negative but I really hope the owners take constructive feedback and improve. Its in a prime location in Ilkley and should be so much better.

Bad food ... Poor service ... expensive prices. After taking 40minutes to bring the food out, it tasted like fried MSG coated meat and badly cooked sushi rice. Don't waste your money. Motto from now on - if you think of going to Joel's, choose Gregg's instead! It's much much cheaper, better quality chefs and a more satisfying meal.

Came to Joel’s for Sunday roast, we both went for the beef (expensive but was a decent cut) the cauli cheese was amazing. Went for the prawn toast for starters which was super tasty, boyfriend had the chicken wings which were nice but with no wipes/finger bowl offered and only 2 small napkins on the table it was super messy! We did enjoy the food but when the price is quite high you expect good service too which unfortunately wasn’t the case for our visit. Restaurant staff all seemed young, blunt and uninterested, took around 15 mins to come get our drinks order, did check back on our mains but when we were on our last mouthful. The restaurant itself was nice but due to no soft furnishings absorbing the sound it felt very noisy even with only 2 other tables in. Hoping we probably just caught the staff on a bad day, because the food was really tasty so it’s a shame the service/atmosphere lacked this time.

Really poor evening meal. Food was really nice and I can't fault that. The wings were huge! However. The service was appalling. Waited a good 20 mins before having to call over a server after arrival, no sign of drinks or even thinking about taking our order. It then took over 2 hours for our mains to arrive. Turned out they'd clearly forgotten to put our ticket in. It wasn't even that busy. Then to top it off no apology from manager/owner as we left. Very disappointing for what was meant to be a nice birthday meal out.

I loved the food but we didn't get our mains for 2 hours and it wasn't very busy!

We’ve been visiting for many years and we absolutely love the Sunday roast which is consistently unbeatable for quality and absolute deliciousness. I thought that it was time for another review as Joel & his team deserve it. Supporting an independent restaurant is a bonus, the food is just brilliant and the staff lovely. One of the team even remembers our order which is very impressive. The location at the end of the Grove is fab too, equally lovely on a cozy winter day inside or like today, basking in the sunshine outside on the terrace.

Went here for a roast, the cauliflower cheese was delish, however everything else was just a little disappointing sadly.I got the celeriac roast. Firstly, the Yorkshire puddings were undercooked, not crispy at all. The gravy was way to sharp and had a funny taste to it, so considering they dosed like the whole plate with it, it just wasn’t that nice. They only gave one carrot on the entire plate aswell, and I don’t know considering how expensive it was I was expecting i but more of a thoughtful plate of food.Beer was nice and from a local brewery, but be prepared to pay £6.90 (!!) for a pint.Meat looked good and well cooked on my friends plate but honestly I don’t think I’ll be paying another visit anytime soon.

Lovely spot for a drink. Best to go with the German ales, not so much the sparkly or rose. Reasonable prices.
