A party of 11 of us went up to the carvery to get served at 5 - 20 pm out of the 11 people 8 people got roast beef which was inedible because it was so tough , also when we got the counter you had run out of Turkey and gammon this is at 5 20 on an evening and we we're told there wouldn't be any available for 1 hour , that is an absolute joke at one of your buisiet times , the roast potatoes had been under the lights and were well overcooked and I could go on but it was altogether a very disappointing family get together. Me and my wife got 2 carvery’s which we were really looking forward to to be served VERY dry and also some empty pots of vegetables. Looked like they had all been sat there under the heat lamps all day. Was VERY disappointed. Have had nice carvery’s there before but this last visit has put us right off such a shame.

One of the best Toby carvery. Very busy and great service by Amanda. Cookie dough sundae recommended.

We booked a family of 6 for Xmas dinner, had to ask for cutlery, Christmas crackers and we felt it was unorganised, food was Luke warm and the atmosphere lacked any festive feel ! For the money paid we we’re definitely unhappy and therefore will not book for Christmas

We were staying at the Travelodge next door, and decided to go to the bar for a quick drink after we'd checked in. It was 9.15pm when we entered, only to be told that they were closed. I explained that we didn't want any food, just a drink, only for the bar staff to confirm that they were closed. We went back to our room, where I checked the website, which stated that they should've been open until 10pm. Not great service.

The experience was not overly enjoyable but I would recommend the Toby Carvery to other people - the food was of good quality but the atmosphere was quite underwhelming and dull, the price of course was acceptable and it somewhat carried the overall rating of 4/5 stars, it’s cheap and cheerful with moderately quick service, I honestly can’t complain.

No one at the bar for ages, asked someone and they went to find some one but no one came, got seated and ordered drinks there instead, all got carverys and my parsnips and carotts where cold, Stuffing looked so dry we all didn't get any as we all said the same, I was given a very small amount of meet and the mash was so hard my son couldn't get it off the spoon, just a bit disappointed as we went for my daughters birthday, I didn't say anything at the time as it was her birthday and I didn't want to make a fuss

Worst carvery we have ever had. For £14 each It was absolutely disgusting. Desserts extra The beef Christ it was all fat and gristle when I complained about it was told “ that’s how it comes in” . The veg was unseasoned, luke warm and tasteless, the mash nearly ran off the plate it was that runny. Left nearly everything was still hungry so ordered sticky toffee pudding/ good god how do you think it’s ok to pass it off as a tasteless bun warmed, ( you could even see the shape of the bloody bun case around the bun/ muffin served with tasteless machine ice cream. The worst meal we have had in years/ and a waste of just short of £40

Very good value for money Buffet with Carvery a typical Toby Inn.Good selection of vegetables with perhaps too many (four) potato dishes and Brussels spouts were considered a little overcooked but in general very good with large portion of meats Turkey, Beef or Pork.

Lovely place. Found me a table, on Boxing Day, even though I hadn't booked. Highly recommend the Salted Caramel Profiterole Sundae. Only complaint was I was too stuffed to ride my bicycle afterwards!

It made us sad that the range of vegan options to go with the veg was down to one, which they had none in stock! Toby carvery used to have a few lovely vegan options so we have been put off going again and we used to go regularly. This time we just had to have veg, this was just warm and nothing special. The roast potatoes were over done and the veg was bland so we ended up paying a lot for basically some average tasting warm vegetables as our works Christmas meal. Luckily the waitress was really nice and that helped the experience not be quite as awful. Our friend got told there was no sausages and was dissapointed too but luckily the waitress managed to sort some for her …we won’t be going here again.
