It was quiet in the pub the day we stopped there on the way to Northumberland. The pint of beer I had was in good condition.

Middling. It's a shame really because I'd so love to enjoy our time there but it's not great

Just a wee snecklifter as I was passing. Well worth a return visit.

Avoid this pub at all costs paid £10 for a pizza that was tiny and found it in Aldi the next day ?? My brother also ordered a butter chicken curry which tasted like the Aldi one he gets every week for lunch ? My mother had a “homemade lasagna” which was also Aldi Worst meal I’ve ever had in my life, it was that bad we laughed about it. Boycott this pub they ripped us off

It sad to see this lovely little pub not busy. The landlady was welcoming. It just needs people to go in & use the place. It opens at 12 noon every day. Opening times information on the Internet is incorrect.

This review is no reflection on the staff at all, they were really nice and welcoming. The last time I went to Three Horse Shoes, you would be very lucky to get a table it was so busy, the food was so good. When we walked in (lunchtime on a Sunday) we had reserved a table based on what it used to be like. We didn’t need to worry about that. Only a couple of tables were in use, someone was playing darts which screams out that this pub is no longer good for food. I ordered a Sunday lunch, i had to drain some water off the plate from the vegetables they were so soggy and nothing could have rescued the taste, they were beyond help. The roast potatoes were burnt potatoes, I do like mine crispy but two were black, the only thing good on the plate was the mini Yorkshire pudding and the garden peas. I didn’t raise my issues at the time because I didn’t want to appear rude. It needs to be back to basics proper home cooked food with an emphasis on local produce. This pub used to be a goldmine and it could be again, definitely needs a lot of work.

Ate here for the first time in many years with some friends last week. The pub was nice inside at lunch time, although empty - we were literally the only customers. We had lunch. The food was cheap - most main courses just under a tenner - but fairly poor quality. Comments on the Fish and Chips had by most - "like a big fish finger", "probably came from Aldi" "prison food" - not that she'd know. Vegetable Wellington was "all right". My Steak and Ale Pie was a bit better but generally agreed that we'd much have preferred to have paid more for decent food. Beer was ok though.

On a recent visit found beer OK BUT food was Aweful!!!! really NOT worth a visit.. I see there are good reviews on here Obviously before the pub changed hands.. The food was well overcooked and borderline inedible.. £9.99 for overcooked fish. The so called batter was like concrete and chips were burnt almost black. However the location of the pub was nice with views across the lake.. Service was reasonable but not professional. But the food needs serious attention and possibly a professional chef to bring the food up to a reasonable edible professional standard at which the public will find it acceptable..

We stopped at the three horse shoes after a walk. Light bite, dessert and drink for us both and some lovely treats for the dog. Lovely friendly pub, great value and great tasting food!
