Lovely place with delicious food! It's so cosy, but simple that you can just focus on having a great meal. You can see that they care about what they do and they are eager to share their knowledge. True gem. We absolutely loved it!Vegetarian options: There's vegetarian menu

Nice atmosphere and good food. Also had lovely white wine and soft drinks. I had the Sauvignon Blanc which was perfectly chilled and had a lovely zesty taste and the Hibiscus Soda. As a coeliac there was no problem for them to accomodate my gluten free diet. Portions just the right size. Will go again.Dietary restrictions: Accommodated for coeliac diet i.e. gluten free

Always a really lovely time here. We had the 4 course lunch (counting good bread as one) which for £25 is a bargain. Simple stuff treated with love and turned into something delicious. Great vinho verde and a warm and welcoming server.

Hern in Chapel Allerton, a dining delight,Where exquisite dishes come into sight,The duck breast with red cabbage and roddichio,Is a flavor explosion, oh my, oh me-o!The service is great, but there's a twist in this tale,My dining companion, not a single detail to assail,A real beauty, a sight for sore eyes,A perfect complement to the culinary surprise. But wait, there's more to this gastronomic tale,A Grey Mullet fish course, which will prevail,Fresh, flaky, and perfectly cooked,A dish so fine, it'll have you hooked.Hern in Chapel Allerton, a must-visit place,For exquisite dining and beauty face-to-face,Come for the food, stay for the view,And dine with someone beautiful, just like you.

I would have sworn out of pleasure at every bite... But it's not really that kind of place and I was taking my partner out for her birthday... Anyway, I highly recommend this place!!!

Had a special family meal here and wow, probably the best fish dish I've ever had. I usually take a lot more photos but the food was just too good. So impressed with the menu with such imaginative dishes and favour. They offer a four course menu with optional extras and several tasty starters and bread to wake your taste buds up before the main event. Delicious, great value, will definitely be back...oh and they made room for us to take our dog after ringing to ask if it was possible. 10/10!Dietary restrictions: They carefully took details of two people in our group with dietary restrictions, checked everything again on the night and couldn't have been more helpful.
I've walked past Hern so many times in Chapel Allerton and always wanted to visit, but, shamefully was put off by not being able to book online...so now you can, I booked as soon as I could and ventured down the road this evening. I've got nothing but praise for the place, from the calm, attentive service to the amazing wine (order the Cinsault, you won't be disappointed), to the brilliantly cooked food. I'll be back, again, again and again. Cheese course also worthy of a mention! Thank you Hern.

Fixed menu. All delicious. I would have liked more vegetables with the main course. Without the extra courses I don't think I would have had enough.

Friendly, unpretentious, delicious neighbourhood restaurant. Small but perfectly formed. Look forward to the next visit.
