We were super excited. We love food, love good service and don’t mind paying.Group of 4 mid January. £1230. Service below average, facilities were poor. Smell of bleach. Food was fine, not even close to exceptional. Wine choice was appalling. Server told us all the wine in the list was dry, then served his suggestion which was a desert wine. . . Next bottle was as bad, we didn’t want to say. Two of the chefs were super helpful explaining what they cooked but clearly in a significant hurry and the acoustics didn’t allow us to hear what they said.Damn poor affair, poorly delivered, over stated and hugely overpriced.Sorry Michael, you really need to get this together, reputation only goes so far.

First time here. Been on the wish list for a while. Got to say I was undecided on my experience. I was wanting to be blown away, but didn’t feel that. Was I expecting too much ? Atmosphere was serious, chilly and empty. Feel like I should have went years ago when it first opened. Went to blind swine in York many years ago, and got to say I enjoyed that soooo much more ! I know Michelin have rules, but comes at a cost. Would I go back. No. That’s not to say it’s bad, I’d just rather sample other restaurants at that price.

Such a cool experience everyone should visit once in their life if fortunate to. Me and my boyfriend had never done anything like this before and I kindly got vouchers for my birthday. It did cost the price of a European city break but was defo worth it for a rare treat. Such a unique experience and remained cool and hip rather than snobby. Staff were lovely and sooo knowledgeable about wines and each course. Chefs came out with certain courses. We felt very looked after. 100% reccommend

We dined at TMBTC last night and what an incredible experience! The food was absolutely spot on. We opted for the standard wine pairing and the service was absolutely incredible - Tom and Dom are a real credit to the restaurant. As it was my birthday they allowed us to tour the kitchen during service to see ‘behind the curtain’! An amazing night all round and we can’t wait to see what changes the new year brings!

Factually Correct

One of my all time favourite places to dine- Looking forward to the relaunch as Psycho Sandbar.?? Happy New Year & a fabulous 2024 ??

Although they certainly don’t need it, this is to counter some of the recent reviews. We dined at TMBTC last night and what an incredible experience! The food was absolutely spot on. Man behind the curtain, more like hiding behind the curtain! Michael you do really need to sort your restaurant out, otherwise you will lose your Michelin star very quickly! Went here for my wife’s birthday, I knew it was closing for a refit, however the service was very basic and was only offered a reduced wine list, of which the first 3 wines we picked on the list were not available! The food was ok, but no where near the first time we went over a year ago. I would strongly suggest that you get a closer grip of your restaurant before you reopen in the new year! I’m afraid I will need to be more convinced from reviews to visit again, and if you bother to look at the last year’s reviews you will note that they have not been complimentary at all! I do wish you all the best but you really need to be more hands on if you want to keep standards as high as they used to be. I reluctantly paid the mandatory service charge as it was Christmas, but was not happy! Yours sincerely Gary Limbert

Had previously tried Michael O'Hare's food when he did a collaboration with Tom Sellers in London, The Man Behind the Story, as have been dying for a trip to Leeds to try The Man Behind the Curtain and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing, very inventive and thought provoking. We opted for the prestige wine pairing which has to have been one of my favourite wine pairings we've had. Will be back next time we're in Leeds.

It’s was our 4th visit and unfortunately very disappointing. On arriving to the restaurant in the past they would sit you in the reception area and serve drinks prior to the meal very relaxing, however on our visit last week we were quickly shown to our table even though we arrived early and while opening my present from my husband had menus thrust at us and a speech, clearly wanted us to crack on! The food amazing as always but the wine is just a joke if not an absolute rip off! My husband did the prestige paring at £180 per person it was not worth it at all in fact I argue he was given anything better than the usual paring menu I mean a taste of champagne not even half a glass, a dribble of wine which one barely filled glass covered two courses! I myself went for wine by the glass at £20 a glass I was given well below a normal measure, if your staff cannot pour wine to measures then they clearly need the standard measuring equipment. The food is not cheap and all the effort is shown but to charge what they do for wine and offer a mouthful it leaves a very bad taste and we are u sure whether to ever go back. Sadly I wrote to client services about our experience and heard nothing back so clearly Michael your team do not appreciate or wish to hear bad feedback.

We had a phenomenal first experience at the restaurant after plenty of raved recommendations. The service was highly attentive and the food was created with so much flare & flavour that cannot be faulted. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Bit late given that the concept is changing at the end of the year but I've been here twice and absolutely adored it both times. One of my favourite tasting menus, so creative.

Luxury food experience. I wouldn't compare it to just having a meal out at a restaurant, this place is an experience and worth every penny. The staff are above and beyond, knowledgeable, friendly and charming. The atmosphere was exciting and warm. The food was exceptional obviously but also surprising and intuitive. Honestly the guys a genius.

First visit in 2021 was exceptional. Second visit booked as the restaurant is closing in its current format, I thought it would be nice to experience with my partner for the last time. The food was very good, up to normal standards; however it seems the service has significantly dropped off.Wait times in between courses were overly long, my partner was not being asked for drink top ups (she wasn’t drinking alcoholic drinks, I did the standard pairing) and when she did order it took far to long for her to be served (apologies received numerous times). Tables who came an hour after us caught us up and paid their bill at the same time. The ambient room temperature was also a little low, my partner did state to me she was cold during the course of the meal. All I’ll say, if you have previous positive memories of the restaurant, don’t bother coming along in its final weeks of opening, leave them in your memory bank… shame really.
