Very comfortable beds, staff were very helpful in getting us sorted and ensuring we had a fan in our room for what was an extremely warm night. Very clean. Highly recommend, wish we could have stayed in the area longer

The Darrington Hotel is agood old fashioned pub with rooms, however I was really taken with my initial welcome and the friendly staff. My room was really clean and tidy and although it was more functional than luxurious it had everything I needed for my 2-night stay.

Really spacious rooms, with huge comfy beds. Breakfast was lovely, with both continental and cooked options. On-site free parking, and really convenient for if you’re driving down the motorway. All in all a lovely stay. Could’ve done with a loo brush though….

The Darrington Hotel is right next to the A1, and so I was slighlty worried that it would be noisy. No problem! The pub is at the front next to the highway, and the newly refurbished room was clean, quiet and spacious; better, the staff were lovely. If you're needing a break on the A1, this is a great proposition.

Booked a one night stay returning from holiday in Devon to break up a journey back home. The hotel was so easy to find just off the motorway. Rooms were lovely, although quite small, spotlessly clean with comfy beds, tea/coffee and even an iron. The staff were very helpful and friendly (special shout-out to Molly who's a real asset). Daytime menu was great and reasonably priced as were the drinks. Our meal came quickly and was lovely. Would highly recommend to family and friends.

We stayed here for a one night break on our way back from isle of wight. Brilliant location just off the A1. We were greeted by the lady on reception with a warm and friendly welcome, she explained everything we needed give us our keys and off we went to our rooms, my parents were on 1st floor, up 4 steps and along the corridor, myself and my husband were on second floor few more stairs but nothing we couldn't cope with. Our room was immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and had everything we needed, tea, coffee milk, iron, ironing board and hair dryer. Our bed was so comfortable and for been so close to the A1 we had a brilliant night sleep, l honeslty couldn't find a fault. we went down for a meal and drinks and the bar staff were again very friendly and helpful, I really wish I had getting the girls name behind bar to give her a shout out as she was a lovely lass. Our meal was cooked beautifully compliments to the chef and oh my god the portions were massive, we have used hungry horse before but can't say the portions were as big. We had breakfast included In our room price and the girl serving breakfast was an absolute star she upgraded my husbands breakfast for us. The breakfast choice was again amazing, cereal, toast, juices so much to chose from before we even had our cooked breakfast choice, we honestly didn't know where to start. All I can say is I highly recommend this hotel and restaurant and will definitely be back for a longer stay and visit to pontifract. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay a perfect end to our holidays. ?

Great hotel & good value! Would definitely stay again in the near future. I would've given 5 stars if the water pressure was better in the shower, but its only a minor thing! It's conveniently located off the A1 and a great stop off point to break up a long journey.

We stayed in this lovely hotel for an 80th bday party being held nearby. We arrived and were greeted at reception by a lovely cheerful girl who sorted us out with our rooms. These were very tastefully decorated comfortable and clean. The bathroom was equally pretty and had everything you could need. When we returned from our party we were greeted again by lovely friendly staff who went the extra mile making us drinks including hot ones to save us going back to our rooms to make them. Considering the hotel is right next to the motorway we had a lovely sleep with nothing to disturb us as soundproofing was excellent. Breakfast was extra but worth every penny. We had stayed the night before in London at a holiday inn in Kensington and I can safely say that this hotel was ten times better than that experience. Would highly recommend staying here. Thank you.

Came up to the hotel room to find 8 months worth of dust in my room, hairs on the bed & a pube in the sink. I work in a hotel myself as a housekeeper and I can guarantee if I left my rooms like this I’d be sacked!! Went down to complain and was greeted by some lanky guy who just said he can swap my room and wasn’t even arsed. No sorry, no nothing. Went into the pub for some tea, which had about 5 staff running around like headless chickens, stood for 20 minutes waiting to be served with one person on the bar. Food came, bread was stale, kids where missing things and my burger was crap. Someone came to ask if everything was ok with our meal, to which I replied no, she asked if I wanted to speak to the manager but what’s the point as nobody seems to care. This stay was for my daughters birthday and you completely ruined it for us. Thanks a bunch. And clean your rooms properly!

We visited today for lunch , the staff are polite and friendly while still being professional. The service we received was excellent. We often come here because the team make us feel welcome and the service is outstanding. The food is great and we haven't yet had a bad experience. Molly and the team are fantastic (sorry I can't remember all the names). We will definitely be back soon.

Really fabulous place to stay and great value for money. Hotel has newly refurbished rooms...all very clean and very comfortable - room was very warm but unusually both room and bathroom had windows you could open and heating also could be turned down in the room rather than being a central system. Really cannot fault our stay - great staff but room and bathroom we're brilliant. Would stay again definitely!

Having stayed at the Darrington for 4 nights, I have to say the service of staff was good. The pub’s evening meal selection was a pleasant surprise, and was very reasonably priced. Portion sizes were of a good size. Breakfast was poor, selections to what is advertised is certainly not what you receive. The chef’s ability to cook basics for breakfast need to be addressed, poached eggs hard, bacon barely cooked.. didn’t dare to try a sausage. No yoghurt or pastries available for the duration of our stay. Pancakes available however with no fruit despite that being the menu options, these are basics that could easily be improved upon. Constantly needing to request staff for bread for toast, juice or milk needing to be replenished. Plates for toast were filthy. Pot wash person needs to dry & ensure plates don’t have food waste remaining on them, which I experienced on 3 of my 4 mornings. Needing to go through a few plates to then just take a napkin to attempt to wipe it myself for use. The bathroom was spacious, clean & well presented. The windows however didn’t open, the fan didn’t work & water pressure was poor. Towels were replenished daily. The room was beautifully decorated, well presented & all bedding clean & well maintained. The bed however, my goodness… a brick would be an appropriate comparison, very firm. Perfect if you prefer that style mattress. A small tea/coffee making facility would be nice if they provided bottled water and a herbal option. Overall, for budget accommodation it was ok. Will I be returning? Probably not. Thanks to the staff whom looked after us during our stay. Location is fairly remote and no local amenities in close proximity if you don’t have access to a vehicle.
