Had takeaway from Captains tonight via Just Eat. Beautifully cooked and delicious. The fish was huge and chips were lovely. I don't usually eat all my chips but did tonight. Really nicely presented in the box instead of being squashed, soggy and greasy. Will definitely order again.

The best fish and chips I've ever had -

We stopped on on our way from Scotland to Leicestershire. This was the best rated chippy en route and certainly didn’t disappoint. Thanks for a great Fish

Never had a bad experience here foods always quality an more than you would expect portion size and it's real tasty too, plus they do that Irish curry that just adds a cherry on top. Oh and the staff always happy smiling and chatty . I'm off to get some

These are literally the greatest fish and chips. Ever. And I really mean ever. The fish is deliciously flaky and the chips are perfect. Staff are fab. I refuse to go anywhere else and if we go to the coast for the day we wait till we get home for our fish and chips!!

Absolutely fantastic fish, chips & curry (not pictured) from Lanes Ladybalk chippy (Pontefract)! It's now my new favourite out of the 40+ places I've tried. For a special, chips & large curry it was £11.20.Fish - 9.5/10I ordered a special, but received what was essentially a large plus a small. Not sure if this is the norm, or if they'd ran out, but either way I'm not complaining. Not quite as good as a Murgatroyd's Big Un, but it's about as good as I've had from elsewhere (other honourable mentions being George A Green, Fish Bank, Whitby's and Fish Bits Doncaster)Chips - 9.5/10These look a bit more pale on the picture than they actually were, but they were extremely good. They were a light brown, with a little bit of a shell/crisp around them. Most were around 3-4 inches long, and I actually had a few that were 6-7. The only chips I recall enjoying more from a chippy were the triple cooked chips from George A Green in Wakefield.Curry Sauce (Irish) - 8.5/10The only reason this wasn't a 10 was that for me it was actually slightly too strong, which is something I never usually say about curry sauce. Watered down slightly this would have been spot on. Next time I'll try the normal curry sauce.Mushy Peas (stolen from my dad as I didn't order any ?) - 10/10I did only have a quick sample, which could have skewed my opinion a bit, but these were I think the best mushy peas I've had. Not too thick/dry, not too runny, and they were well seasoned. The previous best I'd had was George A Green.Value for money - 10/10I'm 6'4 and 20 odd stone, and although I managed to finish it all because I'm a greedy tw*t, I was absolutely stuffed (still am 6 hours later actually), despite not having eaten in about 18 hours. Not only was it a very generous portion, it was outstanding quality. I must add, the service was outstanding also, and the local customers also in the store were very friendly.

I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The first thing that caught my attention was the size of the fish they served. It was absolutely massive! I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size, which left me feeling completely satisfied. Not only was the food delicious, but the cleanliness of the shop was also impressive. The entire place was spotless. It was clear that the owners took great pride in maintaining a hygienic and inviting environment for their customers. The service I received was top-notch as well. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Their warm and welcoming attitude added to the overall positive experience. What impressed me the most, however, was the fantastic value for money. The quality of the food, combined with the reasonable prices, made it an excellent choice for a satisfying meal. I truly felt that I was getting my money's worth and more. All in all, I would give this fish and chip shop a well-deserved five-star rating. The massive fish, clean premises, great service, and fantastic value for money are just a few reasons why I highly recommend it. If you're in the mood for some delicious fish and chips, this place is definitely worth a visit
