Called today for lunch as we had not been since Covid. My wife had the chicken tarragon while I had the Pickering smash burger. My wife’s meal arrived and she thought the chicken in sauce and the mash were very good,But the broccoli was cooked within an inch of its life. After about five minutes of waiting for mine I told my wife to start an eat hers. The waitress came over and said the would have to re cook mine as they had put a sauce on it , this was despite her telling the kitchen staff twice about it. My second cooked burger arrived 15 minutes after my wife’s meal with an apology for them saying they would sort it out. Enclosed for the two meal photos. My burger was as you can see still raw on the inside. When we came to pay they charged full price for my burger and when challenged resorted to calculator to decide what to knock off. We told them to keep it as we would not be returning. A shame that this once nice eating pub has deteriorated so much

Unsure on food, not eaten there yet but looks lovely. Great service and a good pint of Cruz campo.

Staff were friendly and was served quickly. We ordered starters, garlic mushroom and chilli lemon battered prawns. Mushrooms were OK but prawns had no chilli.Main course tarragon chicken was very dry, too much grain mustard in mash and side vegetables were soggy carrots with one tiny peice of broccoli!Steak pie was like a frozen pie, gravy was very salty and too much of it. Very disappointed with food. Won't be visiting again sorry.

We have not been before and unfortunately will not go again. We arrived at 12.03pm on a Sunday. We got a warm welcome and could be fitted in (hadn't booked). Our 1st problem was the drinks which were wrong but we didn't mind and didn't say anything. we ordered Sunday roasts, mine being vegetarian. We were either the 2nd or 3rd couple to order. At 12.40 we were still sat there and no staff had been over to apologise until one probably heard me grumbling to my husband. She explained that the vegetarian option took longer to cook which I understand but I could have made it myself in 50 minutes at home. After waiting 50 minutes (and being 3rd to order food) it arrived, however the mashed potatoes were stone cold, the roast parsnips so undercooked they were inedible, the roast potatoes not crispy at all and were just yellow and greasy. I was offered vegetarian gravy which turned out to be vegetable stock. When we complained I was told that another meal could be provided but it would take another 45 minutes to arrive. Needless to say we left. The owner was there and aware but let the staff deal with us rather than doing it herself. Not acceptable.

As we just entered the restaurant, we have been welcomed with a "Sunday roasts are finished".How about good evening, would you like a drink, and the mandatory welcome phrases?Ordered drink, and 3 fish n chips.Place fairly empty.45 minutes in, nobody bothered to check on us, I call the what I supposed it was the manager, and ask how long it would have been.Answer, ah yes, your table is next one, but let me check with the kitchen. She never came back to confirm, but next table we were not. Other diners were served. We gave another 10 min, after which we decided that 1 hour for 3 fish and chips isn't clearly acceptable, not with an almost empty restaurant.Went to the till, and cancelled the order and asked to bill for the drinks.I've pointed out to the "supposed" manager, that you need to let diners know if the wait is over an hour, and, more important, keep them informed on whats going on.This is COMMON SENSE, which you shall posses in general, more over if you work in this industry.A pathetic apology was then pronounced by the "supposed" manager, followed by :"it's £9 for your drinks"Shocking.

Starter was chillie & lemon prawn with salad. The plate was full of grease. Very off putting. Batter was nice though. Mains: steak pie with chips & mushy peas. Steak wasn't tough but it was dry & tasteless, chips home cooked but I have never experienced anything like them. Who ever cut them must have been blindfolded. My son had the chicken dish. It looked like slop on a plate. My son said it tasted ok but some of the chicken was burnt & dry. The toilets & the place in general was disgusting, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. If I had seen this before I would not have eaten here. Not a place I will be returning to nor recommending to anyone.AVOID

Turned up on a Saturday lunchtime without a booking. The place wasn’t even half full and had plenty of free tables. Asked for a table for 4 adults and 3 children. Was immediately made to feel like we weren’t wanted being told we would have to wait over an hour for food as our party was “too big”. When we agreed the waitress then went off to check with the chef if they were willing to cook for 7 people. She came back to rudely tell us they weren’t willing to serve us. A restaurant with plenty of empty tables turning down customers is bizarre. If we were a 4 and 3 group we would have been served just fine. Very rude and bizarre I certainly won’t be going back.

Best creamy mushrooms ever. Will be coming back. Good atmosphere, good music and comfie sofas to end hump day on.
