Most disappointing Sunday lunch we have had for many years it was recommended, I can only assume they got this pub mixed up with the Silver Plough in the next village. Everything we had was tasteless, there can be no complaints about the quantity if thats your remit but personally I would rather have less but more flavour! A pub with no Guiness ! Plastic packets of condiments without salt and when we requested a salt mill were provided with further packets and the salt was damp and stuck together! The staff are very friendly and accommodating but unfortunately this doesn’t make up for the aforementioned shortcomings. Will definitely will not be returning and with hindsight we all thought that we should’ve left when the old dirty menus that had seen better days were given to us! I cannot believe how good the reviews are on this pub, I can only assume that Wiltshire folk are easily impressed!!

Lovely little pub. Did a great couple of plates of food, and a really lovely Guinness.Fire was lit and well attended. Being the only one at a late lunch service was unbelievable and had a lovely chat with the chef/landlord.They have a Shetland in the field at the back called frogspawn.Nice large carpark

Lovely lunch. Great food, generous portions, all really well prepared. I had the hunters pie, venison and other game. Properly filled, traditional short crust pie. Really good. Others had the chicken burger and calamari, both really tasty and cooked just right. Fantastic service, super friendly.

Great pub, highly recommend this place!!! We were a party of 3 and our dog, we had the sea bass and steak and kidney pie and brownie for dessert. All delicious and portions were generous. The service was super friendly and we were looked after really well, our dog even got some treats ?

Wonderful pub tucked away in a small Wiltshire village. Unfortunately (from a business point of view) I was the only person there that afternoon (3-5 wet weds in early Jan!) but Peter the landlord made me very welcome. A MUST visit. Worthy entry to the CAMRA beer guide.

Spent a fabulous couple of hours here in early December 2023 with my partner when we were on a week’s holiday in the area. Very well kept beer and a convivial atmosphere with genuine banter. Peter the Landlord had ‘been in the knife drawer’ as we say up North. Sharp witted and very entertaining. I did tell him that Adrian said to say hello.Parking: Was pitch black when we got there so can’t say much.

We visited the Hook on our trip down from Leeds. We were here on a Friday early evening and as soon as we walked in we were welcomed into such a friendly atmosphere, as if we were locals. It is incredibly dog friendly. The food was lovely with good hearty portions and local veg!The best bit was the staff! We didn’t get their names, but the gent and lady there were so bloody lovely. Thank you!

It is a long time since I/we have tasted and eaten such good food. Not an easy place to find but more than worth it when you do! Go, it's good!"

Awful prices. Was charged 3 pounds for a “pint” of coke which turned out to be just a can pored into a glass, which was not full and told it would be £12 to have two pints filled up.?

Met up with some friends for a delicious lunch - smoked duck salad with proper chips. Beautifully presented. Staff were very friendly and obliging. A super lunch.

Very welcoming, menu small but varied, Lobster Bisque was superb. Large garden ideal for children. Easy to find with the sat-nav.

Wonderful. Go, drink great beer and eat lovely food. Welcoming staff and friendly locals, what more could you want? Shame Lobster Night is sold out, we'll keep watching for the next one.
