Old Rd, Alderbury, SalisburyThis is our local pub which was superbly upgraded approx 1 year ago. We do love it here and we like to support it as often as we can. This is an honest review based on approx 15 visits to the pub. Things have improved since manageress, Tia, has taken over the running of the pub. Holly, one of the lovely waitresses is a real asset to the pub as well. Both always pleasant and helpful. Chefs are good and standard of presentation of food is also very good. If you are unfortunate enough to be gluten intolerant, it is exremely difficult to find any pub that offers more than 1 or 2 dishes which are gluten free, so my experience is that I am always limited to 1, sometimes 2 dishes I may be able to eat. This becomes boring. More choice would be great. This amazing, gorgeous old pub has an open fire which is a great draw for anyone who loves an open log fire yet it is rarely attended to, nearly always dying and gives more smoke that fire much of the time. Attention to this detail would be great.
After being seated at the table for a while, it took some time to be asked for our drinks order, which in our opinion, should have been taken as soon as we sat down. Music is generally pleasant, and at a volume that you can still talk to your partner/ companions.
However, we do feel that some more team training needs to be given on a regular basis to all team members. We know Hospitality is one of the hardest industries to be in having been in that industry myself. It is impossible to please absolutely everyone. We do believe this is a real asset to Alderbury and Salisbury as one of the few decent pubs in and around the city. We love it and will continue to support the pub as generally it is a really lovely place to visit , relax in and enjoy a meal.

The Hook and Glove at Farley
The St, Farley, SalisburyMe and my partner absolutely love this beautiful village pub, we cycle over most weekends for a quick midway tipple and occasionally a bite to eat. Very reasonable and staff/landlords are top. The setting will not be beaten, picturesque is an understatement.
