First time trying this cafe. Ordered a panini and a cheese sandwich and 2 lattes. Food was fine, nicely presented with salad. At a cost of £36 though it was very overpriced. There are far better places to visit in Bradford on Avon so we wouldn’t go again.

I was so looking forward to visiting after see lots of pictures on instagram. Booked in for afternoon tea, £24.50 each plus a service charge on top, we got a slice of cake each and 4 finger sandwiches each and a pot of tea with a top up of hot water. Service was most definitely without a smile by the lady that served us. Really not welcoming at all. Having worked in a tearoom myself, I think no matter what you should be welcoming and smiley to customers. Very disappointed as it’s such a beautiful building.

My family visited Bradford on Avon some 10 years ago but didn't get to visit this tea shop so today, my sister and myself went here for a birthday treat. It's a beautiful, quaint building. We opted for just a scone each with a pot of tea for two. Having seen the menu, we expected the bill to be about £15 - £18 .....on requesting the bill, we had to do a double check when we were presented with a bill for nearly £25!!!! What we didn't notice or check, was that even though we had one pot of tea, apparently it 'states' that it's £4.95 PER PERSON for a pot of tea!!!! So almost £10 for 4 small cups of tea......a complete rip off in my eyes. I wish we'd done our homework before going in..... just be aware.

Amazing authentic experience. Beautiful food! Everything had a wow factor . Great menu with lots of choice. The service was amazing too. Warm and cosy inside.

We went to the tea rooms for my wife’s birthday and high hopes. We had heard about their award winning status and thought let’s give it a try being local. The food was very nice. Sadly that’s where it ended. We can only assume that the awards won are for best abusive owner and rip off business practices The tea room is in a lovely old cotswold building and the feel of old England has been kept with 2023 poor practice We were greeted by two lovely young staff with smiles and a third staff member who would crack her face if she attempted to smile. We sat at our table and checked the menu to find 10% service charge on any bill over £10. Every piece of food on the menu is over £10. So it’s a 10% service charge for all then. We ordered our food (Welsh rarebit), so £15 for cheese on toast. Then add onto that your £5 cup of coffee. The food came and as we said it was very nice. Well surely it’s hard to screw up cheese on toast but the business practices here it wouldn’t surprise me if you got a slice of Aldi 20p steamed bread and value cheese. Atleast the bread and cheese was a good quality even if it was 1 large slice of bread. For £15 you would have atleast expected 2. So overall £60 for 2 slices of cheese on toast, a cup of coffee, pot of tea and 2 slices of cake. But now onto the main event. Sat enjoying our food and just the quiet time with no kids to chat over my wife’s birthday and we become aware of a lady stood in the middle with a large wet dog (it was raining outside) Not a practice I am a fan of (letting dogs in restaurants) but sadly one that is becoming more the norm. The table behind us though has the dog practically on their table looking at their food. The gentleman politely asked the dog owner to move it away to which they very harshly scolded they would stand with their dog where they wanted and would not move. The lady sat at the table trying to enjoy her food asked again politely and explained they were not dog owners and did not wish to have a strangers wet dog under their table. The dog owner again fires back they will not move until they go upstairs and continued to stand there. We really did feel for the people trying to enjoy their food and having this rude dog owner giving them abuse But that was not the end of it, the dog owner started going upstairs but then decides to have a 3rd bite at these poor People. They turned and fire “Me and my dog will stand wherever we want, we welcome dogs here and I am the owner”, before turning and walking away So, if you want nice but very expensive food with an automatic 10% service charge, and an owner who enjoys abusing their customers thinking they are an air and grace above everyone else. You found the right place.

It looks quaint from the outside and inside. Novel Victorian dressed staff. Service average. And WAY overpriced.....pot of English breakfast tea for two and one dessert = £18.20. !!!

What a shame this wonderful place is so tired and neglected. If you want a wonderful afternoon tea and don't care about the rest then go for it. The scones were delicious and the sandwiches hard to fault with lovely fresh bread and fillings. As to be expected proper leaf tea in grandma's cups. The general impression is of olde worlde charm but don't put your specs on. I have been coming here for over 20 years and it was my late father's favourite place for a cream tea. I haven't visited for 5 years. The historic, gorgeous and quirky exterior is ruined by the impression through the windows that the top floor is a dumping ground. I was looking for the infamous ghost but could only seedisarray. Front of house was a shambles and unwelcoming. Be aware there is nowhere to wait for your table in comfort and a visit to the loo is a bit of an obstacle course that could be improved by less tables. The decor including wallpaper, carpets and paintwork is dilapidated. Always pleasantly cluttered, the Miss Haversham vibe has now gone too far. Almost everything about the interior was dusty and grubby. However in juxtaposition the tables, crockery and cutlery were pristine. The ladies loo was appalling; tired and grimy with months' old furballs in the corners. I could see through to the kitchen when the door opened and was alarmed how dirty it seemed. This and the loo were off-putting. The service could be described as 'unhappy'. I rarely write reviews. This is more a plea to the owners to, at the very least, get a deep clean. There really is no excuse for this award winning, treasured gem of the town; such a busy and popular place, with a constant stream of customers (necessitating the need to book) to be so neglected and resting on it's laurels. Sad.

Brilliant! Fantastic for gluten free customers, plenty of choice. Wonderful toasted sandwiches and heavenly chips, and the best tea I’ve tasted for years!

Quaint building, well thought out decor etc. Staff not very welcoming or helpful. I'm gluten intolerant so chose a GF cake and pot of tea. Unfortunately I had a bad reaction to gluten within an hour. This affects me for 24 hours. I can only assume there was some form of cross contamination. This would have been more serious if I was coeliac. Would certainly not recommend this place to anyone with specific dietary requirements.

The real beauty of this place is certainly on the outside , as you go in then it all changes !! The customer service is poor , admittedly it was rather busy , but the look of dread on the waitresses face said it all as we walked in , anyway luckily we sat downstairs as the toilets are basically on the next level placed directly in the middle of where people are sat having there food , when I used the facilities the stench coming out was dreadful , as I was waiting to use the loo I could over hear the diners commenting on how disgusting it was to be sat eating there meals with the smell of someone’s previous visit to the loo !!…anyway the food is mediocre at best and the prices are high for what you get , we certainly won’t be going back.

Customer service abysmal. Some training required. Received multiple emails asking us to confirm booking, and making it clear that if we were not on time we would lose our table. We arrived a polite 4 minutes early only to be told our table wasn't ready. We were sent out to stand outside in the rain and told to come back in 10 minutes. When we came back our table still wasn't ready because one of the staff had allowed a couple who had arrived without a booking to sit there while a table was prepared for them. Why weren't they made to stand outside and wait? We had boked for afternoon tea. The scones were really dry and were obviously cheaply made or the previous day's leftovers. When we had finished we had to wait 15 minutes to attract a member of staff to clear the table and prepare our bill. While we were waiting one staff member was busy clearing away crockery from the next table while one of the customers was trying to eat from it!! The layout is somewhat cramped which was to be expected but it didn't help that one customer was allowed to let her dog lie on the floor immediately inside the doorway. I would have scored this experience as only one out of five but I gave the extra point for the nostalgia value. We won't be going back.

Had a lovely tea and cake here during our pit stop through the town. Although they are dog friendly, we weren’t comfortable bringing our large dog in, as space is quite limited and she would have been in the way. They cater for vegans and have a large selection of lovely teas.

Very old tea rooms, in the middle of the town. Inside its very quant with the staff in Victorian dress. Food and drink are good. Large selection of teas.

Was very excited to visit with high hopes of an experience for a birthday. Quaint surroundings but sadly some of the staff looked miserable & appeared rude. Food nice, especially the sandwiches & scone. Large variety of teas to choose from. However, there was no friendly welcome which spoilt our visit & would not rush back.

Lovely quirky tea room perfect for the tourist. Sadly not all the staff are friendly. One lady in particular made us feel like we were an inconvenience. Also noticed her bickering to a Male colleague and also rude to other customers when they entered the tea room. Food is expensive for what you get on a set afternoon tea. Sandwiches were freshly made and very tasty, but the cake was a disappointment out of 3 slices that were ordered by our party. 2 were dry and tasted burnt . We we go back No
